I had itunes on random and Ted Leo's 'A Bottle of Buckie' came on, and I'm feeling nostalgic. How on earth am I feeling nostalgic towards a song about being in Glasgow when I am in Glasgow, and about an alcoholic beverage I've tried once and don't like at all?

God.. the feeling I get at 9:25.. that whole piece from 9:30 - 10:30 is like the soundtrack to the end of the world.
Like sitting high on a mounting watching the world below be destroyed.

I've had this stuck in my head for quite awhile :)  I love the guitars and the choir bit in the background.

Sally's Song performed by Amy Lee. There's a few pretty covers of that song but this is the one I usually find myself listening to semi-regularly.

Can't get this song out of my head, but I don't think I want to. The video is amazing too. How on earth did I end up with Jonathan Meiburg sending me an unreleased Shearwater video though, it's still pretty surreal to me.

The Violation            Fleshgod Apocalypse

Ne Me Quitte Pas      Jacques Brel
Hallelujah                 Jeff Buckley
Suzanne                   Leonard Cohen
Knock Me Out            Linda Perry, Grace Slick

Funeral music. Specifically, mine. Sometimes it's nice to this list.

Been listening to the new QOTSA album a lot lately. Seems to be a completely awesome schizophrenic record in terms of Homme's projects and influences.

I mean, this sounds like Eagles of Death Metal and Queens having an arm wrestle:

Another area band that a friend pointed out to me, Atlas and Arrows. Indie/Folk, female lead with a smooth and smoky voice. They just had a successful Kickstarter to record an album, and here are a couple of the professionally produced songs out of that.

Here's a cover of a Peter Bjorn and John song "Young Folks"
[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/atlasandarrows/young-folks-cover[/soundcloud]

And here's an original, "Hands"
[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/atlasandarrows/hands[/soundcloud]

Now listen to those (and even the demos on the rest of the Soundcloud page) and tell me whether you'd guess they're all 16 and still in high school.
Got a chance to film these guys on Friday. Such a solid set, confidently presented. I'm even more impressed with the limitless potential here.

I wish I had had half of their confidence and a tenth of their talent in high school. Of course, I was never musically inclined.

If I do not see TMG live before I die I will have been a failure as a human being.

*edit*  Notable (re: Tallahassee):  "The [album] is a buncha songs about these two people who, uh, get a house down in Tallahassee and, uh, and start drinkin'. Uh, and keep drinkin'. And then the songs take place after they've kept drinkin'. This song is about how they feel about each other and the great love they wish they had, instead of the case of vodka they traded it in for."
