I probably wouldn't mind it if all the WOOP WOOP wOOP WOOP WOOP sort of stuck with the tempo of the song.

This just arrived in the mail (well, I got one of those "pick this up at the mail depot later" forms, as I was taking a shit when the postman arrived, but I scoured the neighbourhood, found him, and claimed my prized package!):

Seriously, if you have even the most passing interest in pop-punk, you need to get on this, like, yesterday.  Shit is gold from one end t' t'other.

boingboing.net posted the new track "Baby's on Fire" the other day. I think they've milked that schtick as far as I can stand. The video's funny. Also I along with much of the nerd-o-verse were non-plussed it wasn't a cover of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMt1Oy5uQ0w

This improv collab EP between Venetian Snares and John Frusciante (and some other dude who nobody knows), under the name Speed Dealer Moms (what a fucking awesome name). Should be better than it is; they're both musical geniuses (in my opinion), but I guess it's an improv project with no edits or overdubs or anything of the sorts, they're doing pretty well.

Also, band called OFF!, which is Keith Morris reliving American hardcore in the 21st century, which I am seeing in... a fortnight or so now, actually. Great band (at the moment; I have a feeling that they'll go shit eventually), but at the moment it's incredibly fresh and energising music. Favourite song is probably Harbour Freeway Blues at the moment.

Oh, and also the Beatles. I'm liking Abbey Road a lot at the moment :3

Cat Power - Moon Pix album. It usually doesn't bother me or even concern me in the slightest whether someone is famous or completely obscure, but with Cat Power I really feel more people should hear it. That might sound clueless, I dunno how famous she is where you live, but at least here almost no one I know has ever heard of her.

This is just completely odd, given my personal history, but bear with me:

After hearing Sir Paul's take on "The End" at the Opening Ceremonies at the London Olympics, I knew I had to just go out and get a copy of the album that it is on - Abbey Road, for you young whippersnappers.

Now, back in the day I might have gone and gotten a CD from my local Best Buy or Wal-Mart. Of course, that was back when I wasn't 15-30 minutes away from the local Best Buy or Wal-Mart. So my option was to buy the album from iTunes.

Not so difficult, right? Well, that was when my computer decided that it was way too hot in our office, and decided to give me the De-Rez screen to let me know. Unfortunately, I had to leave for work in a few minutes, so I pulled out my iPod Touch, swiped a few screens, and bingo - the entire album was downloaded for me, right to my iPod.

I listened to a bit of it at work, and thought to myself, "Man, if you could go back to 1970 and explain what I just did to buy the album to the four of them, they'd think I was on a real bad acid trip or something."

Of course, you miss part of the experience.  Leaving the runout groove of Sgt Pepper playing for ages while trying to work out what it means; getting caught out by the hidden track on Abbey Road (the long pause on the LP before Her Majesty).  Also physical extras like the Sgt Pepper cutouts and the Let It Be photo book (still on my shelf).

I'm currently obsessed with 4:33 by John Cage. I find myself waking up to it, singing it almost all the time, and hearing it everywhere.

I performed one movement of 4'33" in a concert in the late 1970s.  Yes, it is in three movements, so that is perfectly possible!

I dunno if Nashville is worth the hastle for me, what with the different gauge strings and all.

VonKleist, it's a 3-bolt neck on a flattop acoustic. They achieved that by gluing a solid wood block into the body at the neck heel joint and just bolting the neck to that. The block is delaminating from the body, so she's sat in my bandmate's garage with slacked strings for about 4 months now.
