I was at a winery over the Easter holidays where they had this amazing acoustic artist, and I finally managed to track down some of her music.

Her site describes her as “A guitar-slinging chanteuse with a voice that could lay the Southern Ocean down to rest”, and that is by no means an inaccurate description. Mein Gott.  :psyduck:

After the World Cup victory, I've been listening to this.  Yes, I absolutely adore Nico, and the Krauts kicked arse.

Hanggai - "Lullaby (Borulai)"

this is the best version they did of this one. so fucking pretty and haunting. I have no idea what they're saying, but frankly, I don't feel the need to when the music speaks so strongly for itself

Finally got my hands on the new Glitch Mob album. I'm still not finished listening to it, but so far it's fucking amazing. So much more drive than on Drink The Sea, but still with the typical Glitch Mob sound. Everything I loved from Drink The Sea, but nothing of what I didn't like. I really enjoyed it so far.

Thanks to 94ssd, I am listening to the "Child Ballads" music from Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hamer on Youtube.

And enjoying the glass of Laphroaig Triple Wood that I started after restringing my guitar.

Matt Sharp is feeling that The Rentals itch again, apparently.  I'm liking the sound of the two singles they have up a lot, better than anything they've put out since the Last Little Life EP.  The new version of 1000 Seasons in particular straight-up rocks, much more so than its predecessor.  Looking forward to the full album.

This song is so ubiquitous I genuinely can't imagine listening to it by choice, like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' or 'Enter Sandman.'

Thanks to one of Nassault's Kerbal Space Program videos, I have discovered London Grammar and I can't get enough of them.

I'm late to the party.  I'm always late to the party.

But yes, liking London Grammar.

Tonight it's Michael Nyman.

I'm more familiar with his piano work. These remind me of a mellower Steve Martland.

Spent the weekend trying to build a 70s/Funk/Motown playlist in Rdio for my wife.  Which was tough, because it's not a genre I'm familiar with.
