my wife has already started playing CHRISTMAS music.
currently: Bing Crosby.
Time to retaliate by playing "Fairytale of New York", or other anti-Xmas songs.

Meanwhile, in the polar opposite of the mood spectrum to christmas music...

I swear the day this girl does a happy song the entire world will bust in rainbows. Doesn't make me love her music less tho.

I recommend Christmas With the Devil by Spinal Tap.

Agreed. That "honor" goes to "The Christmas Shoes."

Nick Drake's album Bryter Layter. Not really terribly impressed, having heard only Pink Moon until now. I know Pink Moon is a stroke of perfect genius but please tell me he has other good stuff!

"Five Leaves Left" isn't consistently genius-level as "Pink Moon," but there's some gorgeous stuff on there. I didn't care nearly as much for "Bryter," aside from "One of These Things First" (I have to be in just the right mood for "Hazey Jane").

Hazey Jane II doesn't do anything for me aside from disappoint. This whole album seems to be geared a little too heavily toward overproduced 70s pop.

I'm starting to think he didn't have much artistic control over this album, "The Chime Of A City Clock" is such an overproduced mess that it doesn't even sound like the same Nick Drake

Joe Boyd produced the first two. The impression I got is that Drake was unhappy with "Bryter" especially, which was why "Pink Moon" was basically just him and an engineer. I'm not sure, though, how much of the interference on the second album came from Boyd and how much came from Chris Blackwell (after all, look how much Blackwell commercialized Bob Marley's sound on a lot of his Island albums). I think that after "Five Leaves" sold so badly, they probably consciously decided to go in a more poppy direction for "Bryter".

Y/N?

Friend of mine saw them in concert a couple of nights ago. I don't mind a song every now and again, but I think listening to a whole album or show's worth would probably leave me twitchy.

Ah, Layla, one of the only Clapton songs I can be arsed listening to.

Thinking about it, I can't name another one I would voluntarily listen to.

Circus left town. Heartbreaking tune about his deceased son.

Other than that ... I don't know any other Clapton songs.

I do have some thoughts about his nickname and his ability to self stimulate, though.

Cocaine? I'm drawing a blank on any other Clapton songs, which is weird cause I've listened to his whole album Slowhand at least once (my Dad liked him a lot, alright?)

Anyway, I didn't see any rap. This guy's a storyteller, no lil wayne crap up in here.

"Step" - Vampire Weekend

I like this song a lot because of the fact that it mentions a lot of the cities near me. I have friends in all of them!

The "Layla" part of "Layla" isn't even that great. Duane's solo, on the other hand, easily stands on its own. It's less a solo than a song in its own right.

My sister bought this disc and I decided upon copying it into my original XBOX' hard drive, but I happened to remember this and just went ahead to put it in my edm-filled music playlist of youtube.

In case you are wondered, I am talking about Meds by Placebo.

I just noticed that Wintersun, the folk metal band most famous for their speedy song "Beyond the Dark Sun", had released a new album back in 2012 that I never noticed.

If this is even remotely near your cup of tea, then you should definitively check out "Sons of Winter and Stars", a 13+ min long epic with an increasingly catchy chorus:

I went to the same high school as two of the members. Knowing this, some of the folks who welcomed me when I moved to that city decided to buy me a greatest hits compilation by them. Didn't do a thing for me :/ I can't even explain why it just didn't.

Today it's "Claws Off" by Margot and the Nuclear So and So's. They have that one popular song all acoustic and shit but it's worthless compared to this one.

I just discovered that the soundtracks are included with Civ V and Civ:BE. That's work music sorted for a few weeks - now I just have to find space to keep them on my barely-working MP3 player.

(I do think that England's music should have been called Jupiter, though.)
