Nightwish just came out with a new single, so I've been listening to that (and Nightwish in general) lately. They're one of those bands that I've been listening to for years, and just keep rediscovering how good of a songwriter Holopainen is, much like Edguy and Tobias Sammet.

Patti Smith - Gloria

Heard this for the second time in my life the other day (first time didn't really... click), was hooked.

Have been pouring Patti Smith in my ears by the bucketload since.

A "buttload" is an actual measurement, next time someone tells you that they need a buttload of something, tell them 126 gallons might be a bit too much.

I'm drowning in the Indie, so to speak.

Relistening to Born Ruffians - This Sentence (Indie Punk): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4QGqJsyAZ4

Rolling with some Big Data - Dangerous (Indie Pop): https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=big+data+dangerous

And finally rounding it out with some SNTSB - Creek Don't Rise (Indie Folk): https://soundcloud.com/schatziboffin/creek-dont-rise

Feelz gud man.

I'd completely forgotten that album. I think my favorite thing he's done was "Songs for Drella," though (well, that and "Wrong Way Up," and maybe "Fragments of a Rainy Season," and... and... :) ).

Yesterday I played 'guess that singer' with endless covers of 'halleluja'. My girlfriend didn't have too many right.

I've only heard a few that I've liked. The original, obviously. As for covers, I liked Cale's and Jeff Buckley's.

"What are you listening to?"

The same thing over and over again, it seems. My main Spotify playlist has 2000+ songs, yet I feel like only the same 100-200 songs play when I use shuffle. It also feels like songs I have recently listened to are more likely to queue up on shuffle, which is kinda counter-productive. Probably all in my head tho.

I have about 300 songs in my phone on shuffle all. The phone does catch some kind of pattern, which is probably an artifact of re-seeding the RNG every time I start the player. Thing is, every week it seems to choose like 50 songs and randomly loop through those 50.

Mr. Bill is the kind of dude who'd find that the best answer to your song is adding a single note on repeat and do it. This is not it, but there's this thing about all his music that does give you an idea of the kind of genius he is.

I just filmed the local music awards show a couple days ago, and much of the event was performances from 15 different area acts. While I love most of the musicians who played, there was one performance that stood out in a way that I think others will dig. Violinist/songwriter Joe Kye shows why he won "Outstanding New Artist" honors this year with the following 2 songs.
