Hobbit Drinking Medley. Fun to listen to on repeat while doing dishes or dancing with the kids:

I like comedy songs, and I like parody songs. So naturally I like parodies of comedy songs.

I just listened to the whole of the Tengen Tetris soundtrack thanks to remix project that exclusively used Korobeiniki for every boss theme it mixed with. Trying to find a full orchestral arrangement of Bradinsky is hard (Games in Concert just did the GameBoy themes). It'd be a blast to dance to no matter which way they decided to take.

Nope, it's not. That was a tract called 'Bradinsky'.

Korobeinki is what's most associated with the game, though. Here's what you might be used to;

But there are also many many wonderful covers (both for the game and just the folk song).

I guy I know just released this. It's an ode to a kind of pastry called "banitsa". I should probably cross-post this to the cooking thread.

'Banitsa' sounds tasty. Do you happen to have a recommended recipe?

Sure! I have to get some sleep now, though. Final election results are out as of half an hour ago and I could do something else tomorrow, and get some sleep. We got 27 of 240 MPs. About as much as could be hoped for. That a third more than what I expected and the Nazis didn't even get into parliament.

EDIT: sorry, wrong thread. EDIT2: to get it relevant, I guess, we got the first openly LGBT member of the Bulgarian Parliament :) EDIT3: wrong thread again... listen, I'll give my grandmother's recipe for banitsa tomorrow in this thread as compensation.

Apparently there are still tickets for my birthday when Ivo will be playing in Sofia, and he will be performing that song. Ivo just said that on facebook. And he'll be opening with Banitsa. And apparently some riffing off Pushkin also for some reason.

Don't think there'd be a problem with it.

But if the name in particular is important to you, then you're probably referring to a real person.

And if a specific real person is identifiable from the lyrics of the song, and they're not a "public figure" of some kind, there could be repercussions.  At least, in America there could.

So has someone whose name is Aspen done something noteworthy, heinous, glorious, stupid, and/or hilarious?

I'll go with hilarious? It's actually a translation of a Bulgarian name referring to the same tree.

The Victoria 2 soundtrack. Its by far my favorite from any, yes ANY, Paradox game. Its just so perfect. The soundtrack feels a little off because I am so used to hearing railroads and factory completion sounds which are obviously absent from the sound track as those are in game sound effects.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMtVu-ZtwEk

I particularly like Buckingham Palace song
https://youtu.be/XMtVu-ZtwEk?t=426

The Johans Waltz
https://youtu.be/XMtVu-ZtwEk?t=1090

New World Anthem just gives me chills!
https://youtu.be/XMtVu-ZtwEk?t=1483

And the Independence March! I cant help but move side to side in my chair when this song plays!
https://youtu.be/XMtVu-ZtwEk?t=1671

I could go on and on with other songs on the soundtrack, but man I just love it. Nearly every song is just perfect!

Been listening to Mykur again lately. She started out in metal, but it's her Nordic folk music that hits hardest for me. Her voice is hauntingly beautiful.

She has a few videos on her channel playing the nyckelharpa that are just gorgeous.

I'm on the interwebs!
Went to this performance put on by Carolina Crown Drum Corps.
Great show.  Awesome to see the kids performing again.
We were there supporting friends of my daughter and the Marching Arts as a whole.

But I can be seen in this clip several times: in audience, neon yellow shirt, right of center, almost front row.

Not sure if this should go here or in fusion music fun since it seems a mashup of spaghetti western guitar and EDM.

If I find the time, I will look for sound tracks for the old puzzle game Lemmings (a level hopping game where Lemmings march forward following the lead, unaware of the perils ahead, and the player's task is to save a certain number of them with a limited supply of tools). IIRC those tunes often matched the mood of the game so well  :-D

Here's the classic opener (Pachelbel's canon arranged for ... whatever instrument it was supposed to emulate):

Can't say I would be listening to this nowadays. But back in the day :-)

Discovered this recently and haven't been able to stop listening.

The Bandcamp algorithms successfully made me buy my copy back in June :-)

Mind you, the boundaries between movements are not at natural pauses in the music. The resulting time skips between tracks are a bit jarring, if you listen to this in  either YT or Bandcamp. Best to download the whole album (or only listen to a physical copy) so that no time is spent retrieving the next movement.

I was going to wait until the next page to post in this thread again, but I just learned that Tainted Love was originally recorded in 1964.

Also, friggin' Hollow Knight synthwave and Bloodborne metal (the artist has playback on other channels disabled for most of their videos, so here's their channel).

I saw the US part of this tour in Oakland, and the entire show was, in gaming parlance, God Tier.  Cohen and the band put on a 4 hour set, with an intermission halfway through that gave me a chance to smoke and grab another Laphroaig.  I can’t listen to his work these days without having a good cry, just for the depth of it.

Recently discovered a band called "Against Me!". Been listening to their songs on and off with some consistency.

To be perfectly honest, the band appeared on my radar mostly because the singer/guitarist is a trans woman. But I connected to how they sound beyond that, too. And I like the emotion behind many of their songs' lyrics.

Not listening to it at the moment, since I'm not at home right now, but I just picked up this today:

Album is "Life by Misadventure", and the artist is "Rag 'n Bone Man".   Very bluesy with hip-hop and rock influences, and probably the best thing I heard last year, but was unwilling to deal with international shipping on my own, so I had to wait until my local record store was able to order it as an import.
