Seems to me the "Big Red Button" option covers quite a few of the others.

... unless you're talking about a larger-than-life representation of a certain radio and TV comedian.

... yes, I know that's "Buttons" with an "s." Go along for the sake of the joke; it needs all the help it can get.

I almost went with 'The DeeDee Option', but didn't.

I think there's a big 'Hannelore Reveal' to come.

Always push the big red button. Always. No big red button has ever failed to entertain.
No little pink one either, but that's a wholly different story...

I'm wary of the big red button and expect this , but maybe for Hanner's dad it will just be the happy birthday song with a holo cake.

So is Spathe Ham replacing Waffles in the poll now?
(Cause honestly, I prefer waffles.)

Edit: WOOWW, the comic when I wasn't looking.

The killer robot in a top hat is somehow cute, hilarious and scary all at the same time.
And the art is incredible. I'm not sure that's been mentioned enough times over this arc, but it really is.

Nope, didn't get the Nichijou reference, sorry.

Note to self:  Must send Jeph a link to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. (http://www.smws.co.uk)  Example tasting notes:
Quote
Good evening sports fans and welcome to the final of the Beach Rugby Championships in glorious Flavour-vision. Initially your nose may detect a slight prickle as it adjusts to our system, followed by the smell of damp driftwood and heather. From the pitch waft aromas of Vicks and shaving foam. On the touch line we catch the wood fired Japa-dog vendor with the salty, peaty flavour of sweet marinated salmon and hotdogs. With water the aroma of sweet tobacco drifts from the crowd along with half time oranges studded with cloves. After the match you can taste the smoky, ashy delight of our lavender and feta pizza.

And is that a couple of Pintsize-type bots I see centre back?

For comic #2136...

1. From Jeph's Twitter feed: "if you can spot the nichijou reference, you get a prize. the prize is quiet self-satisfation."  For those wondering, it is (probably) Professor Hakase Shinonome over by the punch-bowl table (the short-statured figure with the long reddish-orange hair).

2. Aww...  poor Trashbot(?) on the right side (there is another Trashbot too, by the food buffet table).  Hope it is not "choking" on something.

3. The wizard among scientists gave me a good chuckle.

4. I also first thought "Velma Dinkley" as well for the orange sweater & glasses girl.  Got to love distinctive media icons :psyduck: .

5. Wonder what that trio in the far upper-left area are supposed to be?  (if anything)

6. I would want to try a "poetic imagery" as well as a "racist-grandma," myself.  (If I still drank)

7. Also, nice shorts(?) on "poetic imagery" drinking scientist

8. Nice tiny top-hat for the Hunter-Killer hoverbot.  Also took me a bit to notice it is also wearing a black bow-tie, hard to see since it is against the space-black field.

9. Hannelore seems to have lost her lipstick.

So, a little like Larry Niven's Ringworld, only with a fountain instead of the Great Ocean.  :-D

[edit]
Also, I'm having problems visually parsing panels 1 and 2. In panel 1 our protagonists appear to be standing in front of a cyan-coloured shaft (which can't be the interior shaft of a support spoke since it's on the outer wall of the ring).

In panel 2 part of the cyan area is overlapping the side viewport with some sort of sawtooth profile - so raised rather than sunken? Also can't figure out the relationship between the orange structural members/trim behind Marigold and Marten.

I missed the live comic draw, and thus any helpful view of the background without the obscuring foreground characters.

There is someone hanging from one of the ducted-fan killbots in panel one, next to the girl in the orange sweater (the Velma impersonator?). Is this party hijinks or did the bot slap the claws/cuffs on him and is dragging him off to the brig, airlock, agony-booth etc.?

Aren't they the same drink, judging by the "all I'm getting"? The differing effects reflecting the drinker rather than the drink, presumably.

Maybe the bot was going to drag him off, but settled for taking his pants instead. (Maybe Velma convinced the bot?) So those are his boxers we see in panel 3.

I also hypothesize that Dr. Case calling attention to Hanners' lipstick made her start to get weirded out by it, so she took it off. Kind of like how sometimes a cut doesn't hurt until you notice it.

No; you can see the guy in boxers at the right-hand drinks table in the first panel.  The Faye/Velma girl must have gone over there during the subsequent panels.

It's a tough call on who's abusing whom. My first reaction was the person was 'riding' the HK. But cuffs or chains may be involved...

Also :

I'm pretty sure it's part of a staircase. What you see in panel 1 is when they're at the top, while panel 2 is when they are going down.

9. Hannelore seems to have lost her lipstick.

I agree on #8.

I don't think Hanners has lost her lipstick - it's just that she's kept her mouth closed the entire time, so we don't "see" her lips. (And I bet that's exactly what Jeph wants us to believe, too.)

I presume the dangling is hijinks.

Are the group top left playing with a beach-ball?

That looks an AWFUL lot like Shame Orb...

Also, I'm having problems visually parsing panels 1 and 2. In panel 1 our protagonists appear to be standing in front of a cyan-coloured shaft (which can't be the interior shaft of a support spoke since it's on the outer wall of the ring).

It appears that they're on some sort of a balcony overlooking the "great hall", and in panel two they are descending either a staircase or a ramp.

Don't worry, I had to figure it out a bit myself. The perspective thing throws you a bit.

By the way - Marten's response is almost a throwback to the older days of the strip, when Marten would toss in a zinger after Faye or Dora would make some self-depreciating or uncanny observation. I like it.

Let me join the Thought It Was Velma Brigade. Though honestly, would it surprise anyone here if she truly ended up on the space station?

There is someone hanging from one of the ducted-fan killbots in panel one, next to the girl in the orange sweater (the Velma impersonator?). Is this party hijinks or did the bot slap the claws/cuffs on him and is dragging him off to the brig, airlock, agony-booth etc.?

definitely the agony booth, where they will make him watch michael bay movies and then write detailed reviews of them. the only beverage he will be permitted during this process is a horrible energy drink endorsed by steven seagal.

Upper left of panel one looks like one of the Aperture Science Personality Constructs, Space Sphere.  Did anyone happen to catch what the text was during the stream?

I not only recognised Velma, but read her dialogue in her voice. Upon a second read, I noticed there was a wizard in the far back on the first panel.

For a while I debated whether it was either Faye or Velma. I landed on Velma since I don't think Faye could fit in Marten's carry on baggage. Which raises the question of what happened to the other scooby dooers?

I'm liking the observations!

I'm thinking last panel Hannelore is her noticing that her dad isn't anywhere to be found, cause he hasn't turned up to his own party.

Cue her going to find him at some point during the party (sometime this week) to have some character-development with her dad.

Excuse me, but how can one of your links be spoilery and not the other, given that they both point to the same address?

Also, I'm having problems visually parsing panels 1 and 2. In panel 1 our protagonists appear to be standing in front of a cyan-coloured shaft (which can't be the interior shaft of a support spoke since it's on the outer wall of the ring).

In panel 2 part of the cyan area is overlapping the side viewport with some sort of sawtooth profile - so raised rather than sunken? Also can't figure out the relationship between the orange structural members/trim behind Marigold and Marten.

I'm pretty sure it's part of a staircase. What you see in panel 1 is when they're at the top, while panel 2 is when they are going down.

See the balcony-stairs at the far end of the hall in panel1? Imagine our foursome standing on an identical structure, then descending the staircase which would be to the right. Accounts for what you see in panels 1 and 2.

Also, re:the question of where the rest of Mystery Inc. is, if Ms. Dinckley is aboard: Norville and the dog are raiding the kitchen, of course, and have found the emotion-inducing variant of the scooby snacks. Fred is trying to make time with the Lt, and will shortly be stuffed out an airlock (no one will care because the Mystery Machine is in the docking spine, being upgraded to AI control) and Daphne is tied up in a storage locker because she's Daphne and that's what she does. Velma has arranged all this because, honestly, she's had enough of those doofi.
