Oooh, nice to know! I have Audition as part of the Adobe suite I won, but I haven't tried playing with it yet.
But yes, the algorithms that are coming out for sound manipulation these days are akin to magic. I've even heard of one that will eliminate reverb, though I don't know how well yet.
For the live music videos I take, I have a "secret" formula that starts with a bit of compression (3-band compressor in Premiere, mid a touch higher than low, high a touch higher than mid), then a bit of EQ with a middle/low notch cut of 3dB around 300hz to de-emphasize some of the room resonance, then a 3k notch addition of around 3-4dB to clarify vocals a bit. Being that I'm simply pointing a cardioid at the front of the room from wherever I'm shooting, it's not "perfect", but for a no-hassle solution, it's worked out really well.
