A few weeks ago something occurred which might have been the pinnacle of all my achievements to date.

Those of us in the office were discussing costumes for a 1920s themed garden party thrown by the summer school I was working for, and one of the senior staff suggested that the boys wear moustaches. Someone asked whether it was possible to purchase a stick-on mustache. I informed them that it was, and demonstrated this by taking my emergency mustache out of my handbag and sticking it onto my face.

I had been waiting for months for that moment.

That's perfect!

Everyone should have an Emergency Moustache.  Did it have handlebars?

but lo, when the record came in the mail, it is not what he asked for, but chris daughtry! and he cries out to the skies in anguish,

did they send me daughtry when i asked for sunn o)))?

Here's "random" for you......

Anyone remember prizegames.com (I think for a while they were called prizewinner.com)?? They randomly popped into my head the other day. I think the site bit the dust but I want to play Cube Cutter! Anyone remember Wrath of the Gopher??

Hmm.....something I saw on a friend's FB page:

"artists are not usually nice people."

Um...I'm not really sure how to react to that.

I'd probably ask why they think that and/or point out I consider myself and most of my close friends are artists. Might not be able to change their opinion but you could make them feel a bit awkward.

I'm really in the mood for a big steak.

The nicest community (apart from here) I know are the anime fans, and there are a lot of artists in there.

By direct implication, there exists a large set of nice artists.

I kinda just went  :psyduck: when I saw it.

I think the comment mostly surprised me because it came from someone who I thought would consider themselves as an artist. Yeah, of course the Snooty Artist Type exists, but in all my time in the art world, I have yet to come across anyone who fits that cliche. (Oh god, I just spent an hour on TV Tropes looking at artist tropes.)

I'm sure my own bias is reflected here, but I generally found other artists to be quite nice! Maybe it's because I'm one too, but they have always been helpful, understanding and very friendly to me. Of course there are some not-so-nice artists and others that get a bad rap (like the quiet/sad ones that people think are stuck up and/or scary). But, isn't it like that with everyone? I mean....not all lawyers are bad people either!  :-P

That awkward moment when you ask for gun oil and are handed a bottle of personal lubricant. In other news there is a personal lubricant that is literally called gun oil.

Ehm. At exactly what kind of shop did you ask for gun oil? Normally I would expect an average store to have one or the other. I guess a Wal-Mart might have both :-)

Even though guns are pretty much completely outlawed here, you can still get gun oil in many big stores. On the other hand, we are pretty proud of our German gun oil "Ballistol". They are advertising it for basically everything.

I am dressed as Dr. Simon Tam from Firefly for a friend's Firefly-themed birthday party. In my room, I have 2 large closets, and they both have 2 sliding doors that are also full length mirrors. I literally have an entire wall that is a giant mirror. So when I walked through my room to step out my back door for a cigarette, I scared myself half to death thinking that some strange, well-dressed man was invading my home.

Most of the forumites I've met no longer post here. The only exception I can think of right now is Shane. Had a great time in every case though. One time, I went solo to meet up with a forumite who was a very pretty young lady, and we went to the Washington DC Zoo. 16 year old dorky-ass Pat was stoked.
