94% of people do the same thing day after day.

...you mean there are people who breathe every day? Holey moley!

There's a new advert for TicTacs and it says something like "94% of people do the same thing day after day. So shake it up! Put TicTacs in your pockets and turn your bum into maracas! Join a queue and shout CONGA! TicTacs. Refreshingly different" and I can't help thinking that anyone who shouts CONGA in a queue of people is probably a very irritating, rude person who I would seriously dislike and suddenly I have even less desire to eat TicTacs.

Fuck advertising, man.

If you have ever done anything and wanted credit for it, then you need to pipe the fuck down about watermarks.

I was driving in the dark and ahead of me I saw a low hanging branch. Instead of trying to avoid it hitting my windshield, I ducked. I'm encased in a ton of metal, what good would ducking do in this situation? Instincts are weird.

Fortunately my windshield is fine.

I don't get how a watermark by itself "ruins" anything. A badly done watermark, yeah but for example that picture Grognard shared. I had to look for the signature to notice it and once I did, it doesn't affect the art or the joke.

Seriously the more I hear someone say watermarks or signatures wreck something, I just hear someone complaining they have to consider that an actual person did the work and that stuff doesn't just pop into existence for their entertainment.

I'd be pissed if I had to work in a watermark in everything I ever posted. It's just a boring piece of business in an artistic enviornment.

It is always a choice of the artist. It is not up to anyone else what does or does not belong because it affects their enjoyment.

You could be like Al Hirschfeld and hide it. He hid the name of his daughter, Nina, within his drawings.

Random Thought.

...I've been on these forums for longer than a year.

It scares me how quickly you get used to people and how vulnerable sharing yourself with a group of people can make you. I'm an open book, and it's so easy to tear it apart by just tugging at the proper pages. People I've least expected to did that recently and it forced me to reevaluate many of my personal relationships with people I used to be very comfortable with.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've shared a great deal about myself here. I share myself with everyone, and it's bitten me in the arse one time too many to not start regretting that decision.

I'm at your mercy. And I'm not at all accusing you of anything, it's just that the fact scares me.

I don't know why, but the openness doesn't bother me at all. Maybe I wouldn't want certain people (generally those I am talking about) seeing what I post, but otherwise, I don't have a problem. I think having mental health issues, and learning to trust in people that are willing to help me, and getting ECT and having to explain it to literally everyone, has made me more comfortable being open. And I'm happy about it.

I am in no way a show off or an exhibitionist, but I am who I am, and I'm okay with people seeing most of how I am. The little bit I keep hidden is truly hidden, as in, no one knows anything about it.

I found a beautiful green damselfly with large wings lying on the ground outside. It appears to have torn off its own leg with its teeth, and it was close to dying when I found it. What could have happened to it?

The student loan system really does force complicity with capitalism.

Actually the student loan system in general is the exact opposite of capitalism, and is the result of a market distortion created by government involvement.

I think she meant the fact that you'll often come out of school owing a lot of money means you're forced to take whatever job you can get immediately, rather than taking time to look for one that actually suits you or does something you're proud of.

It forces you, as a graduate, to consider the monetary reward of a job before it's other merits.

I am in the process for interviewing for a job at a place whose business makes me uncomfortable, but they will pay me enough to make my loan payments, so I am pursuing it.  My first payment is due in a month so I can't sit around looking for the perfect job, and chances are the perfect job would not make me enough to pay off my debt in a reasonable manner.

Sure but the whole thing's a result of a market distortion. You owe a shit ton of money because of that intervention.

I thank God daily that I don't have student loans anymore. I actually paid off my student loans the same year I bought a house.

Sadly, I now have more CC debt than I did in student loans.

I got very lucky in that I won a full scholarship that covered tuition and living expenses for college, so I never had any student loans. The flip side of it, though, is now I'm 28 and have no credit record. Later this year I'm going to have to find a new apartment in whatever city I end up in, and landlords like to check credit records...  :psyduck:
