I was also referring to the idea that someone who doesn't think it needs to be anything deeper than "just sex" is jumping every person who happens to walk by and implying that they do so with no concern about sexual health. While it can be a humorous observation to make, it's a pretty shitty and shaming tone to take to someone's sexual life.

Basically I'm saying that slut shaming is not okay.

All it was was my personal thoughts on the matter. But I should have learned from other forums here that personal thoughts and opinions aren't okay to have, if other people think differently. Pot, meet kettle.

Personally, I blame my Seventh-Day Adventist upbringing for a lot of my hang-ups.

Different opinions are fine. Barmymoo believes in God, wants more meaningful sex than casual for herself and has morally based (correct me if that's wrong) dietary restrictions.

I'm a fairly hard line atheist, am okay with having both meaningful and non meaningful sex and find there to be no moral issue with eating meat.

These differences are fine, but part of the reason I enjoy this forum, is people can call each other out for making callous involving slut shaming, casual racism/sexism and the like and not be seen as some kind of "white knighter" by most. It's a good system that usually gets people to at least consider the content of their posts in the long run.

All that ^

Plus, there's a difference between having an opinion about what you want your sex life to be like and judging other people for doing things that don't impact upon you at all.
I freely admit that you've not outright judged anyone for their sexual practices, but you've got awfully close. Do whatever you want with your own life, and feel free to share that with us - we're here to talk, after all, and that's an interesting topic - just be careful to not make it seem like people are doing something wrong by acting in ways that you don't personally enjoy.

True.  The first statement was, "I  never understand girls who...", not a judgement that they shouldn't.  The followups were explanations of what OE thinks.

So, a little gentle mind expansion is certainly in order, but no pouncing is warranted.

Taking a few minutes away, I will apologize. I didn't mean that comment in a serious context, but I see that it was a callous remark to make. While I don't personally go for the whole casual sex thing, and while I generally don't approve of it, it's unfair of me to make judgments. I'll be honest, my opinion on it isn't likely to change. But then, sometimes i need to learn to keep my trap shut  :-)

While my upbringing was in a strict religion (although, my parents were thankfully much more lenient than most in that church), some parts of it stuck with me, mostly good, and some bad. It was influential in forming my particular set of morals, and while I'm not much fun at parties (never touched a cigarette or pot, never had a buzz from anything other than caffeine or sugar, though I have an occasional glass of wine, and have never been drunk), I'm glad that I at least got away from the whole 'homosexuality is the work of the devil' mentality.

Eh, personally, I like casual sex. I also like sex while in a relationship, but I am usually careful to try the milk before I buy the cow, so to speak. During casual sex I tend to be a bit more focused on my own pleasure, but during relationship sex I focus equally on my pleasure and my partners' pleasure.
Although, due to std risks, I rarely have sex with strangers. Most of my casual sex is with friends.

Bitches and hoes man, bitches and hoes. I mean, yeah. Judging people is bad. Don't do it.

...

But honestly, she didn't pass judgement on anyone. He just said that she doesn't understand casual sex. For That matter, I can't understand it. For me, sex is incredibly intimate and it's basically the final surrender of myself as a person to someone that I care deeply about. I just couldn't give that away for... fun. It's not that I think people are shallow or superficial, I just could never do it myself and I can't really understand the concept beyond an academic understanding.

She didn't explicitly pass judgement on anyone, but it was easy to read her initial post as having judgemental undertones. Her explanation in a subsequent post cleared that up nicely.

I actually was outside of my home state today.

I have to think about this, but I suspect that this was the first time I had done so in several years.

Somehow, this bothers me.

This has bothered me for decades;

Is it better to brush first, then floss (getting the gunk impacted by the brushing out) or to floss first and then brush (allowing the toothpaste to get between the teeth)?

My dentists have all said that it doesn't matter, so long as I do both.  I find this answer unsatisfying.

I floss first and then brush. It never occurred to me to do it the other way round. I don't know why.

I don't floss. Is flossing a thing? I didn't know it was a thing. I don't think I actually can floss between some teeth, they're so crossed over and wonky.

Well, I would think that brushing, then flossing, then rinsing and finishing up with some mouthwash would work the best, since all your crevices and surfaces are now cleared of the hard plaque (allowing the mouthwash to penetrate and kill most of the remaining gunk). Other than that, I don't think it really matters. :-\

I floss every once in a while when I freak out because I don't floss enough. Then I go on a flossing spree for like, 5 days straight. Then I get annoyed at it because my teeth are squished together so tight that I have to use special fancy floss that's super thin just to get it between my teeth. Then I stop for a while until I get paranoid again or have a scheduled dentist appointment.

My teeth shred floss like nobody's business, so I have to use the thick tape kind jsut so it holds together enough to finish the job. That said, I don't do it very often - I get lectured by my dentist every time about it. That, and my coke habit. But hey, he shouldn't be complaining - my fillings are probably going to put his kid through college.

My dentist has been similarly critical about my lack of flossing (I build up a lot of calculus, but usually don't have any other dental problems). My experience is similar to yours in that some of the gaps  between my teeth are so tight that floss quickly becomes shredded, so I usually give up soon after paying his bill. Finally he talked me into buying a floss wand. Flossing that way is actually much more convenient. I don't need to touch floss covered in saliva for one.

I wonder how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop, and will the number change because of unforeseen variables? Like the ph of a particular person's saliva, the heat of the environment and present humidity? Suddenly I want to cackle diabolically and run experiments on this...
