I was thinking of conventional robot apocalypse fiction and how it's basically impossible for an AI to independently develop any kind of agency, let alone a tendency to crush all humans. Then I was reminded of Battlestar Galactica, and I thought, what if AI-controlled, indistinguishable-from-human robots conspired to secretly help humanity instead of wiping it out? I don't know, maybe that somehow turned out to be the case with the Cylons; I only saw the first season.

My girlfriend has this inexplicable ability to get piss on the toilet seat. I have literally no idea how she manages to do it.

Maybe the question is why us guys avoid it. And I find that I don't avoid it; I'm dribbling more than I used to. Maybe I need to change the washer, if I can find it, and if the hardware stocks it, and if I can figure out how to install it.

Schimmy, perhaps she doesn't wipe down her legs before standing up. Women get difficulties with trickling sometimes, our plumbing is not as directional as yours.

This. The irony is, it's hoverers that put the piss on the seats, that they're trying to avoid in the first place. Seriously ladies, you can't get anything from a toilet seat. wipe it off and sit your ass down.

Meh, I think it's going to be impossible for robots to take over the world because they just cannot compete with cats, who truly own the world.

Sometimes my posts on here are so long that I feel the need to apologize. Then I feel stupid for feeling like I should apologize. But then I think that there might be someone that appreciates that apology and if I leave it out they might be annoyed at how long my post is. And if I put it in there, they'll know that I'm aware that my posts are really long and I'm not just rambling because I'm full of myself but that maybe I think there might be people who think something similar to what I'm saying and those people will go "huh. me too." And it will make them feel a little better about doing/thinking whatever that thing is because sometimes I think things I do/think are stupid/weird but it might be a little less stupid/weird if more people do it. But then.....there were/are a lot of things that a lot of people do that are still stupid even though thousands of people do them.

And this is why I need to stop neglecting my blog. So I don't take this kind of insanity out on you people.

Again.....I apologize.

I'm going to apologise for always reading your posts, perhaps I should stop doing so in order to vindicate your belief that no one wants to!

Honestly, don't worry about long posts. I make long posts too sometimes. The glorious thing about the internet as opposed to real life is that if you're in a hurry you can skim read, and if you aren't you can read in detail. I think you think too much.

Good idea: putting your long poofy hair in a french braid to keep it neat and out of your way.
Bad idea: leaving it in a french braid for 3 days straight.

When I was young my favorite dish was creme of Isabella, a pasta/mushroom/cream/cheese dish.  I threw it up one night and was put off it for ages.  After 12 years I had a memory of it and made it out of the blue, it was great.  So, probably, it just might be a long time.

Maybe the question is why us guys avoid it. And I find that I don't avoid it; I'm dribbling more than I used to. Maybe I need to change the washer, if I can find it, and if the hardware stocks it, and if I can figure out how to install it.

I read the whole washer thing as an euphemism about fixing the dribbling. Made the post pretty hilarious.

If the suggestions function of Youtube's home page was a sentient entity, it'd likely hate dealing with me. There's really no logical connection it could draw between my Vocaloid obsessions, watching video game footage, abridged series, and random things I just look up.

Youtube would be disappointed of me. Most recently a couple videos of assisted suicides and of death bed confessions. Then schizophrenic ramblings, then I was looking at videos of women in rubber inflatable suits. Plus a peppering of ketchup bot.

Every once in a while I remember my last relationship and it makes me want to be violent at myself. Then I realize I'd much rather be violent at my ex. Then I get scared because it's been long enough I can't actually remember how long it's been since then without thinking about it, near three years I think, and it probably means I'll probably never really get totally over the situation.

Then I remember I bought a 50 inch TV with my boyfriend and we've got two more comedy gigs at least planned this year and I feel so much better.

I have moments like that too.....I get so mad at myself for still having anger towards them when it was so long ago. Then sometimes I think it's ok, because they will always be a part of me no matter what. Even though they probably don't deserve to be. Especially now that I'm getting married next year.

I think the reason I get random moments of pure anger about it is because it was an online relationship and I was a dumb, naive 17/18 year old in what looking back was a very messed up relationship. Now my older brain who knows how a proper relationship works gets flashes of, "You know something? This bit here never quite added up..." and I have something new to get angry about.

New thought:
Someone brought McDonalds into the class and now I'm really hungry for it, even though McDonalds makes me feel sick.

My girlfriend has this inexplicable ability to get piss on the toilet seat. I have literally no idea how she manages to do it.
My toilet seat has an occasional fit while I'm standing before it, peeing: It flops down of its own volition. Is there such a thing as a female toilet seat?

HA!  I have one of those.  It's the age of the house - the floors are sagging a bit as you go out from the walls, and so the toilet (and dressers, and the hutch in the dining room) tip forward.

As the only male in the house, I've learned to hold the thing up.

Or to sit down.

No. (Four letters, one syllable, non-English origin - and I've heard it mispronounced so many ways it's RIDICULOUS. In fact, I heard the least common mispronunciation today at Walgreens - pronouncing the HOU like WHO.)

No. My entire name is only three syllables, and professors used to stuff it up all the time. And professors deserve to suffer! Sorry Carl...

Something along those lines that always really annoyed me:

When you ask me to tell you how to pronounce my name, at least try to repeat it the way I say it! The courtesy that you show by taking the time to ask me is completely irrelevant if you're just going to ignore what I say.

I mean, really? My last name is spelled exactly the way it sounds.

perhaps...although it's always struck me that people think my name should be harder to pronounce than it really is because they're not used to seeing it.

Dalsgard....not Duhlsgard, Duhlsgurd, Dalsgurd, Delsgard, Dalesgard......Dals. Gard.

Although, I guess it's pretty easy for us to pronounce our own names, considering we've all been doing so our whole lives.

I know a couple people named Neil and so many people insist on calling them Niall. A lot of tourists especially seem to just refuse to accept that an Irish person can be called "Neil" and no matter how much they're corrected, say "Niall".

I don't understand how some people have insisted I'm wrong about my own name. My real name is just one syllable, "Lynn", spelled that way, and since that's the beginning to so many commons names like Lindsey, Linda, Lynette, etc, so many people assume it's short for one of those. I will introduce myself as, "Lynnie" and five minutes later they'll be referring to me as Linda or Lynette or something. When I correct them they think I'm just being picky about a nickname. Even the ones that accept my name is just "Lynn" right away usually don't understand my spelling. They say things like, "Shouldn't it have an 'E' on the end?" or "Shouldn't there just be one 'N'?"  :?
I hoped when I started introducing myself as "Lynnie" it would avoid things like that but they still come up or a lot of people end up calling me, "Lily".

There are even people who think that what I really want to be called is Paulo, when my name is Paul.  Not many, though.

I think some people are actually simply incapable of imitating the sounds they hear, as opposed to making the sounds they are used to.
Short of hard work in the language-laboratory where you can record yourself and play it back, I think this is probably true of most, if not all people, though perhaps less so for musicians like yourself. Some sounds are just very difficult for people not used to them to hear and reproduce. For example, many Chinese surnames begin with the initial that is represented in pinyin as zh (Zhou, Zhang, Zheng etc.). This is one of the three "retroflex" initials, and is hard for English-speakers to get their tongues even if they are not confused by the romanisation. Unless I'm talking to a CSL student, I advise people simply to pronounce zh like the j at the beginning of jungle, jangle, or Joseph.

The one that puzzles me is why people mispronounce my "first name". I adopted the first syllable of my Chinese personal name as my Australian "first name", because it is pronounced like a common Western girl's name, and I even use the English language spelling instead of the pinyin romanisation. But as soon as people see it in combination with my Chinese surname, their brains seem to turn to mush, and they invent the weirdest pronunciations.

There are even people who think that what I really want to be called is Paulo, when my name is Paul.
Eh? Portuguese style? Powlo?

I introduce myself as "Bob Ball." So many miss the last name, misspell it back to me or ask me to repeat it, that many years ago I began introducing myself as "Bob Ball, B-A-double-L." I'm not even sure that's helpful.

Try switching to "Ball. Bob Ball."
