Muscle weighs more than fat. I am only a stone lighter than I was at my heaviest, but I'm in way better shape from eating better and exercising more, and even that's not much.

I honestly doubt it's muscle since I've been sucking at my diet and only token effort for exercise. Although token effort is still more than I used to do.

Actually, I don't think muscle weighs more than fat. Something I learned in Weight Watchers. I don't mean to make anyone feel bad, but thems the breaks.

Muscle doesn't weigh more then fat any more then 5lbs of feathers weighs less then a 5lb bowling ball. It's a goofy statement that is trying to say that muscle is denser then fat.

This is why getting your body fat percentage (NOT YOUR BMI. BMI DOES NOT WORK EXCEPT AS THE BAREST GENERAL INDICATOR OF HEALTH) is vital to an overall fitness program and your over all picture of health. If I have two Marines in my office, both are 5'10" and they both weigh 210 lbs, but one has 12% body fat, and the other has 22% body fat, they're in completely different places fitness wise. The former's been body building and could probably bench a truck at this phase, and the other most likely looks like a bag of hammers in uniform and needs to either be sent to remedial PT or be discharged immediately.

I was trying to be generous. I honestly don't know why the system still exists.

Fun fact when I was in the best shape of my life, running 20 minute 3 miles and weighing in at a lean, mean 175 at 10% body fat, I was STILL obese by my BMI.

...damn. I miss my 28" waist and abs. Back to the gym!

I don't really want to have this whole conversation again, but:

No, it is not odd that you are the fittest and the heaviest.  Weight, size, body fat %, these things are not directly linked to your level of fitness.  Fitness is measured by your strength, endurance and cardiovascular efficiency.  Your body fat% is not a good indicator of any of these.

I didn't know about muscle being denser but I didn't mean it's weird to be fat and fit.
I meant it's strange (possibly a little ironic but may be using the word wrong) that for the first time I make a serious effort to get healthier and lose weight but am now at my heaviest weight. This may or may not be due to my exercise routine. I've lost some inches which is what I'm mainly concentrating on anyway.

we have an older gentleman here at work who we joke around as being on the titanic because he's old (he actually started this trend) and it has now evolved to him being the captain of the titanic and the whole helpdesk gets involved in it now as the crew.  its really quite fun.

Holy cow a job just opened up that I really want. It is the director of the department where I first started working in IT. when I left I told the director I would come back for his job, now he is retiring and I am fully qualified for the position.

Actually that doesn't give me an idea. I ain't pierced nowhere. Not really my thing. :-)

The knees suck, though, I agree. Hard and uneven surface. I do all the way up the legs, but admittedly I do make it harder on myself than it has to be. Always kinda hesitant to use it, for obvious reasons. Not really as big a deal when little ones are poking out, but leave it too long or shave instead.

Holy cow a job just opened up that I really want.

Good luck!

I was kind of a big wuss about my labret piercing, but I was like... 16? 17? when I got it done. It was also my first "real" piercing, as in, with a needle instead of a stupid gun.

I was super terrified about getting my septum pierced but handled it okay. Fuck that was a huge needle, though.

Two of my three earlobe piercings (in each ear) were done with a gun, and one set was when I was maybe 4 years old. The other was when I was in my teens, and no big deal. The third one in each ear was done after a couple hospital stays where I was poked repeatedly with needles. And my friend was doing them, and I got to stare at her boobs the whole time, so I was pretty damn calm.

The conches hurt like fuck. I cried, and there was a ton of blood. But I dealt better than I had with my labret.

Lastly, my bridge was super weird. I could feel the needle piercing one side, slowly going through flesh, and coming out the other side. I didn't cry at all and it was my least painful piercing, but also the weirdest feeling. Also there was a lot of blood running into my eyes.

And that is the story of neko's piercings.

When I was a toddler I had this giant clown teddy-doll-thing. Apparently I loved this thing, snuggled into it every night because it was the same height as me, until I was allowed to see some bits of The Shining.

I became terrified of this clown teddy-doll-thing that had one giant shiny eye and one X for its other eye. It would sit there at the end of bed staring at me. The shiny bits in its eyes were clearly the souls of others it had killed. Its hair was red from the blood that had been splattered on it. Maybe a survivor had its other eye as a trophy from when they escaped. That bastard definitely moved at least once.

So I braved up and grabbed it and threw it into the cupboard outside my bedroom. I snuggled into my other giant koala teddy, George, and knew I was safe from evil clown teddy-doll-things.

So I forgot about it and went about my normal toddler activities the next day. It came to wind down time and got into bed. It was back. Sitting there at the end of the bed with its terrifying eye, staring at me. Staring at my soul.

Once again, my toddler self decided to risk death and throw it in the cupboard outside my room. I locked my door for extra safety.

This went on for a while until the clown teddy-doll-thing eventually stopped appearing at the foot of my bed.

I recently told my Mammy of this tale. Turns out she was finding the clown in the toy cupboard while cleaning up and she was putting it back in my room.

The moral of this story? There isn't one. Fuck clown teddy-doll-things.
