If I actually go read the news, honestly it feels like the world is falling apart at the seams. It makes me depressed, angry, and sociopathic.

My main project for the week that I'm off is to go through a crapload of boxes that have been sitting out in the garage for a while. They had been sitting in the basement of my old condo prior to that - and probably for more years than I'd be willing to admit.

A few things of note:

• I found a lot of old pay stubs from the 1990's - including one for my wife when she worked at McDonald's in the late 1980's.
• There was an amusing "cheat sheet" for WordPerfect 4.2 for DOS. Dear God, the amount of stuff you had to do just to get to where you could WRITE!
• I also found the channel listing for our cable company back in '95 - Century Cable, who later merged with Time-Warner. It had a "Select Channel" group of The Discovery Channel, WTBS, CNN and TNT; Disney was a Premium channel. E! Entertainment Network was only part-time, as the channel it was carried on was the local PBS station. Basic rates for 41 channels was $20.17/month, with $4.45 for all four "select" channels. Disney was $11.50, while Showtime/Cinemax/HBO was $12.95 by themselves, or $9.40 for each beyond the first. A converter cost 84 cents a month to "rent".
• The list of contact hours that I had for my "practicum" that I needed to complete my Masters' degree in counseling. I came up 33 hours short.

The Norwegian word for "horny" sounds the same as the word for a number being raised to the power of k (where k is an unknown). This happens frequentlly in calculus. Combine this with lecturers holding the chalk with their thumb and index finger, forcing them to point with their middle finger and thus flipping off all the students, and much giggling was to be had.

By the time we made it to the counter they had given our tickets away. The lady at the counter was lucky I didn't hit her in the face...

I don't know about the MO at whatever cinema ChaoSera was going to go, but in Ufa-Palast in Düsseldorf, you can order them online, get a four-number code, then you can go to the cinema and pick them up with the code and pay. They will be reserved for you until half an hour before the movie starts; after that, they are up for grabs.
