Know how that feels.  My boy disappeared around June of last year.

I hope you have better luck than I did and he turns up alive and well after having an adventure.

Dad's old cat turned up after four years of being missing, went right to where his food used to be and then jumped up in grandpa's lap like nothing had ever happened. Cats are weird.

That beats the record for cats I know, which was 2 1/2 years.  But in 10/10 cases, it means that they have found another house where the catering is more to their taste for the while.  Of course, sometimes they manage two or more permanent homes simultaneously - I have seen people arguing about which of them a cat belonged to, because they were both feeding it regularly and getting love (ha!) in return.

My cat's grandmother (the people we got my cat from owned his mother and grandmother) lived with us for about a year once. One day she just turned up at our doorstep and since we recognised her we let her in, gave her some food and called the owners to let them know. They picked her up, but she came back to us again and they told us they were fine with her staying with us if we were okay with it too. After a year she went back to their place as if nothing had ever happened, apparently she used to disappear for months which means she had at least one other house she stayed at.

There was also a period where my cat would regularly come home with newly combed fur and reeking of perfume.

We had a cat that would run off for days at a time. One time he was picked up by some college kids, but his most common destination seemed to be a house a couple miles from ours which, probably not coincidentally, had a female cat. The woman at that house returned our cat to us several times, but joked that she wanted to keep him. One day he never came back. I think she kept him.

Because for all you try to act like the cynical douchebag troll, deep down you are a sweet, kind person who many of us love very much, Pat. And being a nice person means you sometimes fuck yourself over to help someone else, even if in this case it was exceedingly minor.

That advert for that e-cigarette called Njoy pisses me off no end. They use some of that shitty, corporate, poppy, auto-tuned country as the backing music and it makes me want to burn their offices to the ground and then light a cigarette off the flames.

Seriously though, that advert makes me want to smoke in sheer protest at the besmirching of country's already tattered reputation.

The commercial that aggravates me the most is the one for TrueCar.com. One of the lines is "I don't need to bring a dude with me!"

There's a radio commercial that keeps playing, it's from a local hospital for it's orthopedic center. It talks about your knee twisting the wrong way, complete with a guy screaming. I CAN'T listen to it, it makes me so uncomfortable.

Ha, Dopplegangers.

I was picked up by the Buffalo PD for someone who looked just like me.  They thought I'd forged my ID, until my folks came for me.  I was 18, the guy they were looking for was in his 20's and had held up two bars and a gas station.

I saw his mugshot.  It was creepy how much we resembled each other.  We are not unique snowflakes...

Even snow flakes are, at the end, a mathematically predictable combination of variables drawing from a limited pool. The odds are high, but across 8 billion some individuals, even limiting by race and gender it's not odd that you might find someone who looks a lot like you but isn't kin to you.

There used to be a kid on here (anyone remember Sam?) who looks just like my dad did when he was in his 20's. We told him he had a 15-year-old doppelganger in Texas. He might have found it funnier if he hadn't been stalked by some people from Arizona when I was little, who saw his photo in an AP article and were convinced that he was their son-in-law who had run out on his family.

How do we know that the end of Wizard of Oz wasn't a dream? That is, not Oz itself, but waking up in Kansas. Maybe she'll wake up for real back in Oz, where she'll be told she slipped and hit her head while clicking her heels together, and then lightly chastised for believing that she could teleport.

Would that really make a difference at all, though? How is a story being in the mind of a fictional character inside the mind of Jeph be that different from a story from the mind of Jeph?
