I figure one more week of strips and we'll be done with this space station arc, barring any unexpected developments. It's been a lot of fun and I'm glad people seem to like it! But I'm also looking forward to getting back to earth.

Nope!

I meant in reply to jwhouk: No, we're not coming back to Earth for another week, from the look of it.

One more week of the space station arc could mean one more week in space, or one more week counting their return. We'll see by Friday, I suppose.

You know the votey made me realize that if Angus and Faye really stabilize into a relationship and want to move in together, one or more of the main characters is going to lose some stability.

If Angus moves in with Faye, Marigold will be on her own and might not be able to afford to keep her apartment.

If Faye moves in with Angus then the same applies to Marten.

If they both move out, Marten and Marigold both need new flatmates.

Can you imagine Marigold and Marten sharing an apartment?

Could be an interesting opportunity for a new central character...

I thought the same thing about marten and marigold.   It would be very different as they are both more submissive, so there wouldn't be an alpha personality like there is with faye living there.   I can't wait to see how it actually turns out.

Meanwhile, Faye and Angus move in together, and despite all precautions, have a kid. The kid has a normal, uneventful childhood and adolescence, guided by his/her childhood friends/mentors/babysitters Momo and Sam, takes an interest in running the business affairs of Secret of Doom LLC as it acquires Chatham Holdings. On graduation day, the child poses for a photo with proud parents Faye and Angus ... who are hit in the face by the TIME SNOWBALLS Hanners threw 20 years previously at the beer sledding party.

As a brick joke, I'd prefer if at the kid's graduation, someone mentioned that they could use an espresso.  Right after saying that, the espressosaurus appears.

While apt, the ironic thing about the comic title is these two crazy kids are too young to even know who Richard Marx is.

Pity, that.

So... is it "Right Here Waiting" (which is what Francis will likely be doing), "Endless Summer Nights" (which describes how long they've been in space), "Hold On To The Night" (which describes what they're doing NOW), or "Satisfied" (as in, "we won't give up until we're SAT-IS-FIIEEEEED")?

Or it could be another Richard Marx song - Don't Mean Nothing.

(which used to drive my copy editor friend Frances crazy - "DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING!!!!" she would scream at the radio. I've added this for those of you who think real people don't live insane lives.)

Marigold could become an IT specialist on the station, or something, but I really can't see it happening.   There's still lots that can be done with her storywise, especially in relation to Hannelore.  In a way, barring some very major changes in Hannelore's future, Marigold is the closest Hannelore is likely to get to having a child.  She even grounded her.  Given her impulses for order and so on connected with her OCD I can't imagine Hannelore becoming a "pet parent," to use a stupid phrase, and using a pet as a surrogate for a child.  She may like kittens, but I can't imagine her putting up with the physical mess they make for very long.

As for Faye and Angus I would imagine if they decide to make things more permanent Angus will initially move in with Marten and Faye.  It's only fair given that Faye had to share an appartment with Dora when she and Marten were together.  How long it will last is another matter,, as is what would happen to Marigold.  A thought comes to mind that she would eventually end up with Dale as a roommate one way or another.  No romance, just a good old fashioned "seemingly incompatible roommates stuck together" plot.

...but you said it was just that the Dilithium chamber needed flushed...

And we still need 10.21 Giga-watts of power.

A thought comes to mind that she would eventually end up with Dale as a roommate one way or another.  No romance, just a good old fashioned "seemingly incompatible roommates stuck together" plot.

That's been done to death already.

And Dale has that creepy semi-stalker thing going on with Marigold. Much nicer to get Francis York, the nice-guy, direct-approach, interstellar astrophysi-whatever-he-is.

Well, that was a rather passive-aggressive way to prepare for intense not-meant-to-be makeouts.

People keep talking about Angus and Faye moving in together and I just don't see this happening unless they decide to get married. Angus and Faye are both happy with their current living arrangements and both independent enough that they'll likely stay that way. Dora only moved in with Marten because she didn't trust him and he wouldn't move away from Faye to be with her, thus exacerbating her paranoia and we all know how that went. I don't see Faye or Angus being distrusting enough of the other to need that kind of control.

As for our latest lovebirds, this won't end well. They're basically horny high schoolers for all the experience they have* and I just hope they have enough sense to stop at second base.

*- I'm going to presume that Francis is your stereotypical nerd that has never made it past second base and even then it was probably a pity grope.

I disagree about Dora's reason for wanting to move in together, at the time it seemed more to do with the natural progression of the relationship. The suspicion I think came after she suggested it when they disagreed on who would move in with whom.

(Man, I wish the word "whom" wasn't a thing, it looks so weird)

It's never good to just presume things like that, although there is a slight desperate air to Francis. Not as much as Marigold, though, and that could just be due to space station loneliness.

I beg to differ - they know exactly who what they're getting into!
