For my own part, I sometimes feel awkward saying certain sexual terms with friends, though it varies from friend to friend. But where'd I'd normally say or type stronger words, when speaking aloud I'll sometimes use tamer ones depending on my mood and who I'm talking to. Marigold's already flustered enough, she probably couldn't bring herself to say cock or something similar in front of Hannelore of all people (even though she's the one who asked lol).

Also I'm kinda proud of Mar-bear; not actually doing it but taking it farther than just making out; she knows what she wants. Hopefully this little episode raises her self-esteem a bit.

One of the only overarching themes I've noticed about the comic is that other people make your life better. All of these characters come into the strip with issues like crazy, and all of them have made positive progress due entirely to the circle of friends they've set up. QC seems, to me, like a group of imperfect people trying to make sense of the world and helping each other through life. Anyway, just my two cents.

The thing about it is our perspective: we know all about Marigold - Francis doesn't. We're not giving him very much credit for managing to navigate the minefield that is Marigold's self esteem issues without knowing about them in advance, you know?

I think a lot of her issues stem from her belief that she is unattractive and no man will ever be interested in her. I'm not saying that one guy can un-do all of that damage (because she definitely needs to work on her relationship with herself) but I think Francis showing interest will be a nice start to breaking down the self-hatin' wall that Mari had going on. She can't fall into that whole "no one likes me" thing, because well......wiener.

He could always transfer to UMASS or MIT or somewhere reasonably close by - and they could do the geek mating dance routinely.

MIT?  Uh... no.

Compared to the distance of space, a 90-95 minute jaunt down the MassPike is nothing, trust me. (Seriously: it's 100 miles, mostly via the MassPike, down I-91 and I-90 to the MIT campus. It'd be a shorter drive if he transferred to Harvard.)

There's Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, UMass, "Smif", Springfield College (down the road in Springfield), Clark University and Worcester State University (halfway between Springfield and Boston)...

Like I said: he could transfer pretty much anywhere in the state of MA and be within an hour's drive of MarBear.

Let's not forget that there's always CT as well- RIT has a branch in Hartford. And really? He could probably end up anywhere he wanted to in the Northeast and still manage to see Mari on the weekends.  Even NYC is only 3 hours away. (Now that would be interesting....Mari could definitely use some big city time to help her get out of her shell more. Or it could just send her into total panic mode. )

Also, that Hannelore face is cracking me up. I've really been enjoying the facial expressions in this arc as well.

How does one transition from "tough[ing] his weiner" to a simple slobberfest, fully clothed make out? I would think that if there was to be any transition between those two, it would be from the latter to the former.

Living on campus was nice for a little while......but it was even nicer to leave campus and have your own apartment. At least at FIT it was.......we were a dry campus. Of course, that didn't stop people from going out and coming home completely wasted....it just meant that if you were visibly intoxicated you were reprimanded and you were written up if they found booze in your dorm during an unannounced inspection. Even if you were 21.

Huh. In my dorm, a clothes hanger was the signal for the roommate to make other arrangements for the night. The sock was an antitheft device. (Part of my dorm's ventilation system was a gap of about two inches under each door to allow air outflow. It also allowed a hand, holding a golf club by the head, to fit under the door so the rubber grip could be used to rattle a locked door open. The sock over the doorknob slid around enough to make that too time-consuming and risky. There may have also been an incident, which I refuse to confirm or deny, in which the would-be burglar did not realize the dorm room's occupants were home, and for his pains lost his golf club, not to mention the use of two or three knuckles.)

For what it's worth, I did 2 years in halls (very wet ones thanks to the UK drinking age) and the experience became very tiring when having to get up for 9am lectures every weekday I was woken at 3am most nights for a riotous hour or so of hot drunken sex. Sadly it was my next door neighbor not me who was getting it. The lady in the room next door, who as far as I knew didn't have a degree, was never seen on campus, or awake before 4pm.  Also at fault were the exceptionally thin walls in the 60's era building. Mostly however it was down to her exceptional sex drive.

Whilst the whole halls experience was great fun the above incidents meant that around exam time things started to get pretty exhausting and I would have been very grateful for a room with brick walls, once in a while.
