I just had a horrible, horrible idea.

Pintsize has gotten unauthorized access to Momo before, though all he did was change her startup sound.

What if, the next time Sam interacts with Momo, Momo's new chassis is inhabited by Pintsize?

Awwwww... Looks like Dora's maternal instincts are shifting: she wants to hug Sam, not eat her, hamster-style.
That's an improvement. I guess.

The shape of Dora's eyes in 4A look really good. Also it may be the sudden "Absolutely." and "NO" but I almost think I can hear a voice in my head for Dora.

Kids are naturally suspicious of people who are nice to kids. At least that's how I see it (between my mother (puts in the effort, spends time to play with them etc), and me (the soulless polar opposite), my niece and nephews seem to voluntarily hang around me for some reason...)

This type of scene is usually seen to me as "Fun aunt, not-so-fun aunt." The fun aunt can either be split into two catergories (or varying levels of both at once):

A: The fun aunt you learn cool stuff from, that would likely make your parents go pale in the face. This is typically what Faye is doing.
B: The "fun" aunt who you're likely to walk out of their house with an iPad, and it isn't even your birthday, but otherwise seems slightly more like the typical "out of touch mother" when she's trying to be "hip".

As for Dora... Not exactly sure why she would seem like the unfun aunt in this case. Then again, she wasn't really around for too much of it.

Dora was also vocally opposed to all the things Faye was busy corrupting Sam with, so that would have had an impact.

Dora's entire direct interaction with Sam seems to be during Faye's break, and they weren't exactly boding.

Hey, at least the kid was polite eough to say "Bye" to her!

If Dora's seen as a potential stepmother, doesn't that complicate the relationship? Has Sam said anything about her mother, the split, the divorce? Each of my parents remarried when I was in my early teens. I wasn't thrilled with any of it, although I got over that.

I never really got over it with my stepmother, even when she lay practically dying in my dad's old condo.

Still - Dora just doesn't have that "huggable look" to her at the moment.

Here we go, once more unto the breach dear friends...

Or close up the wall with our multicultural dead,
In QC, there's nothing so becomes a maid
As a white tank top;
But when the blast of Indie Music blows in our ears,
 Then imitate the action of the [eye of the] tiger;
 Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
 Disguise fair nature with hard-to get to know barriers;
 Then lend the eye a terrible prescription;
 Let pry through the portage of the head
 ...
 On, on, you noblest North Hamptonites.
 Whose blood is fet from fathers of 90-proof!
 Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,
 Have in these parts from morn till even sought
 And found their bars for lack of argument:
 Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
 That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
 Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
 And teach them how to file library books. And you, good barrista,
 Whose limbs were made in Georgia, show us here
 The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
 That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
 For there is none of you so mean and base,
 That hath not noble lust in your eyes.
 I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
 Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
 Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
 Cry 'God for Dora, Coffee of Doom, and Pintsize!'

I'm not sure if Jim is entirely over Dora yet, and I'm willing to bet Sam senses that, even if the others haven't.

But yeah, she and Faye certainly had a lot more bonding time here than she and Dora did, so it could just be that.

Hasn't this entire skit been an about Dora and control, as someone said?

I'm struggling to bring this together into a coherent post but here goes.

Dora has been told her control issues effect her day to day life.

Faye interacts with Sam in a way Dora doesn't approve of (Based on Dora's earlier "Faye..." comments starting in comic 2176)

It kind seems to me that Dora can't exert control over the situation and doesn't want to blow her top at Faye in front of Sam in order to gain control, perhaps because Sam's a kid and she doesn't think it'd be appropriate, or because Jim might hear about it, or even because she's trying not to be as controlling.

She certainly hasn't made a great impression on Sam, no matter what her motivations are.

But there's no conclusion to make right now - Dora's actions may have been a habitual "back off if you can't control it" or may have been her trying to be more laid back about not being in control and coming across in a slightly strange way, and I think the next couple of strips (if they stay centred on Dora) might shed some light on the matter...

Actually I thought the whole subtle Dora / control / jealousy dynamic might've been mirrored. Faye just does what she does, Dora feels the need to control, but also maybe subconsciously to compete -- then Faye gets a hug and a warm goodbye, and Dora opens her arms for a hug, even though she didn't really show much warmth of her own to Sam -- and gets rejected.  It's the whole it-all-comes-so-easy-to-Sven dynamic that Dora gets from her brother.

I dunno why people harsh on Dora, though. She's not evil -- she just has her own issues to work through.

Dora didn't get a hug because her boobs aren't as pillowy as Faye's.

She's too young for the Vulcan Boob Squish to work but she is still subconsciously drawn to them.

Maybe the jealousy Dora's feeling is actually because she wasn't the one with a face full of boob.
