I wonder what the average height/weight across these countries is, too. All of those red countries are known for having taller, larger (not fatter, just proportionately) people than, say, a lot of those countries in Asia. Same with Germany. And then there are a lot of people from those countries that moved to the US. (I don't know if this really applies with the northern part of South America, though.) I guess it also depends on where you store fat in your body, too. Some carry it in the upper body, some in the lower, and some carry it all over. That could explain why Africa might be lower - yes, the women are taller, but they seem to store more fat in the lower half of their bodies.
