My problem is that it's far too new for  bunch of hipsters to be driving.

I assume it's Angus', since he's driving - straw man pays that well?

Maybe it was rented for the occasion...

I can't tell; is Faye carrying a knife...  or a dildo?

I suppose either way, she's prepared.  :P
If QC were set in my state of Indiana, she'd be carrying a revolver as well as the knife.

Reminds me of one of my favorite stories about my dad... one time we were visiting my uncle in New Jersey (he lives near Trenton), and during the visit we went into Philadelphia. We got lost at one point and ended up in a bad neighborhood. My uncle was panicking ("Get us out of here!"), and my dad calmly reached into the storage compartment between the two front seats, pulled out a pistol, and said "We'll be fine." My uncle started panicking for a different reason: "You brought a gun into New Jersey!?"

There are still pretty modest swimsuits that have about the same coverage as the tank top and shorts Hanners wears when she's being comfortable. I think she would draw the line at swimming in something that's not heavily chlorinated.

If Angus is making good money, then he's working for people who have money, which might result in some interesting ethical compromises. Maybe the Fiesta was a graduation present?

For comic #2292...

1. Gibbs' Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.

2. The Zero Tolerance 301 folding-knife would be my preferred knife of choice, were I able to bring myself to spend 300 USD on it.  (I have to make do with a generic manual folding knife, which probably would not save me from a rabid tapir out for my fluids :-( )

3. Well we know that Dora has her own car, so that is probably how she and Tai will travel.  The question now is whether Hanners will be at the party too?  I do not recall Hanners having a car (though obviously she could afford one as well as private parking space).

4. It will be amusing to see if Jeph does a strip with Dora, Tai, & Hanners in their own respective car.  Or any others en-route to Emily's lake house party (or man-hunting event).

5. It will be interesting to see the cast in their respective swimsuits, both males and females.

6. Someone (jmurf67) copying my posting style?  Good thing I do not enforce any of the patents 8-) .

I'm pretty sure Hanners will wear a bathing suit in a attempt to work up the courage to go in the lake, but ultimately she's probably going to chicken out.

Side Note: Since Faye's hands aren't visible in the second panel and she is tilted slightly to her right, she could very well be pulling the knife out of a compartment in the door. Most cars have them and it would be big enough to hold the knife.

Shouldn't Momo be strapped into a booster seat?  :police:

Honestly, besides cometic damage nothing bad could really happen to her.

My bet is that Hanners' "swimsuit" for anything other than tank of distilled and purified water would be a hooded drysuit with new neck and wrist seals, along with a full-face mask, the whole to be discarded after one use.

And then Hanners surprises everyone by jumping into the lake in a bikini, before she realizes that no, it isn't just an outdoorsy-decorated pool, and no, it isn't chlorinated.

The party starts off with tears and several containers of chlorine.

Meanwhile, Pintsize emails horse porn to Emily as revenge for Marten not inviting him. Emily doesn't realize what it is and shows Hanners.

Poor Hanners.

(Also, I bet Pintsize is getting lonely. Marten hasn't hung out with him or anything in quite a while, and now he's going on another trip without him? Poor little guy.)

And then all my suspicions are debunked in one fell swoop, right? But if that's another suspicion... Ergh, I'm wandering into paradox territory.

7. @Method of Madness...  That would probably be because I used beige 8-) .

8. "Gibbs' Rule #9" in yellow or red would have probably been too eye-searing for some of our forum-cast.  Plus I generally use yellow for linking.  (example: Gibbs' knife: the ZT 301 [P.S. Edit Add: huh, it auto-colors it orange by default now?  that is must be (relatively) new]

9. @jmurf67...  I do not know about you or others, but I generally use number-separation posting since it makes it easier to quote from.   And these particular forums love their quote-tunnels :psyduck: .

To be brutally honest, years of reading numbered lists in corporate documents means that as soon as I see a post with a numbered list, my eyes automatically glaze over and I just have to skip to the next post. Sorry! That's just how it is.

I like paragraphs, though. Paragraphs are great.

Rationally speaking, the mere presence of a number in front of a paragraph shouldn't have that effect on me, but it does. Gah!

Two words, and they're in the poll: STEPHEN KING.

King lives in New England, and sets most of his horror stories IN New England.

=

Note for those outside of the US: "New England" is generally considered to be the section of the northeastern part of the country, generally made up of the states of Massachusetts (the setting of most of QC), New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. The term comes from the fact that the area was one of the first English colonies in the "New World" back in the 17th century.

Now that I come to think of it, "New England, New South Wales" is kind of funny.

On the new Fiestas - they're actually pretty dang roomy on the inside, and I don't see why there'd be any trouble fitting 5 people in one, especially with Marten's scrawniness and how petite Momo is. I drove one for the better part of the summer for my job, and they're quite nice, actually. As for price, they're really not all that expensive, either - $14k MSRP.

Do you have some sort of alternate forum skin that only mods can use?  :?

There are three forum skins at present (the default, a reproduction of the old plain gray, and a "normal" light background one), and anyone can choose any of them by going to the Look and Layout page of their profile.  All are in use by some forumites.  This is one reason that the rules and guidelines request that colour is not added unnecessarily to posts - the other is the avoidance of eye-bleach in general (I could block it, but don't want to be quite that much of a killjoy).

5- Write English.  There are many non-native English users here, so we don't expect grammatical perfection and consistency of spelling.  But please, no 1337-speak, ALL CAPS, or excessive use of smileys , marquees, fancy fonts and colours and such; and please try to spell people's (and characters') names right - it's only polite.

  • I been rockin' this brainslug since I was like, 5.

Angus's Male Gaze may have been foreshadowing...

:.(

I hate men. They have no loyalty.
Ummm... yes we do.  We absolutely do.  Do some men's eyes, on occasion, follow the swaying backside of a passing women?  Yes, they do - but despite what some people think, a sideways glance is not at all connected to a lack of loyalty.  If a woman drools at a shirtless hunk on True Blood, does that mean she is planning to cheat on her boyfriend?  No, it doesn't.  We're humans, we have libidos, and they don't shut completely down when we enter a relationship.  A sideways glance every now and again is nothing to sneeze at.

Now, Angus' complete lack of consideration in looking /staring at another woman when Faye is right next to him - well, he's just an idiot.  Doesn't mean he's not loyal.

A sideways glance every now and again is nothing to sneeze at.

Totally unrelated to the main topic at hand: if something is "not to be sneezed at it" is important. A sneeze used to be an expression of contempt or disregard, and to sneeze at something was to consider it of little value or import.

Of course, it's usually after a post like this that the poster is shot down by their own linguistic failures.

EDIT: Thinking about it, slang and idioms do have different meanings in different places, even in the same language. Perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick.

I check women out as they walk past too - that doesn't mean I wouldn't be loyal to a partner (it also doesn't mean I'm attracted to them).

That road does look dubious to me, but having driven down similarly-dubious roads to reach Redball's lake house I would simply assume that that's how American roads are!

Yep, must be some ridiculously mundane explanation.
Although I wonder why she needs the mask...does it really splatter/splinter that much?

HOORAY FOR AXE MURDER! ;D

Emily's parents' house has a swimming pool right above a giant lake? I guess the lake is the pool, maybe?
I don't know what's funnier; Emily's terrified look (insofar as you can tell behind the hockey mask), or that Angus and Faye were expecting that.

To me, the deck looks to be built out over the lake itself (looks to be a bit of a height (probably 30-50 feet? My depth perception sucks sometimes)).

Even with a mask and hatchet, Emily looks adorable.  :-)

Besides, I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explanation ridiculous explanation that only makes sense to Emily.

Oh dear, Hannelore has murdered Emily and is wearing her hair as a wig.
