"Is there a word for when someone does something completely illogical, but in a perfectly logical manner? Because I really could use that word right now" - Marten, QC 707
Just a random thought, but a current one for me is a word for that feeling you get when your realize that every problem given to you as a student is somewhat pointless. The answer is known by someone, and you're just stupid for not getting it.

Not always true; I had one class with the author of a new book, using that book.  Severl of the problems had errors in them - so many that the assignments became "try to do problems such-and-such, and if you can't do some of them, re-work them so that you can."

It was an interesting semester.

Dear god, that sounds like a nightmare. No, my problem is knowing exactly what to do... and having absolutely no clue how to actually do it.

Another one occurred to me today. I need a word that encompasses the feeling that even though I have no knowledge of how to do something specific, someone out knows exactly what to do and can do it easily.

Frustration?

Or, perhaps, inadequacy?

Optimism!

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

Pyrrhic Optimism? I mean, I guess it's a win for humanity as a whole, but still kinda sucks for me :P
