Two days ago, Roger Ebert posted
this blog, informing his readers that his cancer had returned, and he would be taking a "leave of presence". He wouldn't be leaving, he'd just be scaling back his reviews, and delegating more. He wrote of his intentions to make a new website, to write many more reviews, blogs and essays. It is
not a blog post of a man who knows he is about to die. In some ways, that makes his death even harder to take, but in others, it's comforting that he remained optimistic until the end.
I didn't always agree with Ebert's reviews, but I almost always enjoyed reading them. You will be missed, Roger.
