Cover challenges?
« on: 08 Dec 2012, 07:22 »

Hi folks,

Many of us on here are musicians in one form or another.

Some of us are lonely masturbating losers with shitty covers on their soundcloud page (not me, obviously), others have bitchin' bands with fuckin' epic albums (not Patrick, obviously, the guy's a douche).

But back when I was on this forum in the Middle Ages one of the great unifiers was recording threads - the thread where we made an N*Sync tribute album, the thread where he had a rap battle (which by the way, I fucking won, with Pat on guitar).

I think we could use something like that again.

Earlier today, I was seriously considering (and still plan on doing) a miserable-as-fuck folk cover of 'It's Always A Good Time' by Carly Rae Jailbait and Owl Titties, but currently have the flu, so I can't sing fuck all.

But what do you guys think of one of us puts up a song idea, and then everyone else goes away and records a cover of it, and we compare and contrast the results? Hell people could even vote on the best ones...

WOTCHA FINK, EH???

You better post that motherfucking rap battle right now, I wanna hear what my ancient-history guitar playing sounds like. IIRC that was the last time I ever used my wah pedal.

Pat, I'm not even sure I have it, and I can't find the original rap battle thread it will have been posted in.

Seeing as Beck has just released an album in sheet music form only (gosh, I wonder where that idea came from ;-) ), perhaps there's an opportunity to do something unique?

...I can't read sheet music.

...and I don't know what unique idea you're suggesting?

I'm recording a Christmas drone cover of "O Come O Come Emmanuel", I'll post it here when I'm done.
