Didn't she had detachable pigtails, or was that a feature on her previous chassis?

  • The distilled essence of Mr. James Beam himself.

Neither, it was hypothesized and joked about in the forum, but never happened in the comic.

#2251 was the last time she was shown with "human" round bubbles. Since #2275, her next appearance, she's been square-bubbled, like Pintsize.

Hi QC readers, I've been reading the strip for a couple years now and saw a reference to one of my favorite fantasy series'(unless there is something else that I don't know about in which that reference was made), and felt the need to comment as nobody seems to have mentioned it as one of the 'callbacks' Jeph talked about on his tweety thing. The lead-lined box at the bottom of the ocean refers to something that happened in the final book of a series written by David Eddings called the Elenium in which the 'jewel of power' of which the story revolves around gets locked in this box and tossed in the ocean at a remote location to prevent the protagonists from gaining it's power. the lead lining of the box was supposed to stifle the jewels magic powers . The box ends up getting recovered in the next series the Tamuli. Talking about it now makes me want to try and find those books because it was a really good couple of series' and deserves rereading.

lead-lined box at the bottom of the ocean
Except that, for the Bhelliom, it was iron-lined.

Momo no longer has The Pugnacious Peach tossing her in the air like a toy, but Emily played with her belly button and Clinton objectified her and intruded into personal space so much that we saw the first use of her taser against a human.

Winslow is treated more respectfully than Pintsize despite looking like an iPod. There's a dark possibility that Momo was mistreated because she's female. There might be a deepseated human weakness of disregarding non-human consciousness, but while animal cruelty is way too common most people are decent with cats and horses.
Considering how off even the other characters consider them, I don't think Emily or Clinton really count as baseline examples.

I think Winslow may be treated more respectfully because he looks like an ipod. At the very least, he doesn't have a skirt like Momo does.

You are correct, it has been about 10 years since I read the series,  my mistake.....in the immortal words of Emily Litella...nevermind.

I will try very hard not to screw up then, but I've just been proven to have a faulty memory so the next stop on train for me will probably be Geezerville.

Does even Marten have a completely accepting attitude toward AnthroPCs? He assumed the LANPARK couldn't produce a coffee worth trying.

Let's be fair here - most anthroPCs can't taste, and we've seen no evidence that any of them had a sense of smell. It'd be a bit like someone asking me to cook them a steak... I'd just have no idea what constituted a good steak.

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

Eh, you can recognize and accept someone's right to be considered a person while not liking the way they make coffee.

Did he assume, or did he actually try it once before finding CoD?

We may never know...

Don't think it was ever explicitly said, but it might be that Marten's PNG'd there after Pintsize lasered up the place.

  • but will you understand

I think it's a safe assumption that he hasn't tried it, no.

The line he gives Hannelore is *REALLY* racist if taken out of context. Only sort of racist once you factor Pintsize back in to the equation.
