I'm not saying he had a small range, it was good, but Lennon was a great VOCALIST rather than a great singer.
Same as Elvis. Elvis has a reasonable range, nothing spectacular, but where it sat on the scale as far as baritone and tenor was quite odd.
For legitimate range and power, you need someone like Freddie Mercury or George Michael. They had a huge range, both of them, and some real thickness in their notes too. At the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert you'll note that George is the ONLY person who can even slightly keep up with Freddie's songs.
