Indeed. I have snow and targets family outside, but I have an assignment to finish and a time-wasting forum inside. I can't cut my 'net connection because that's where I get the questions from. You can see my dilemma.

Yes, it's snowing (I'm near Gareth).

Very pretty right now; there will be chaos on the roads for the rest of the day (like: Oh God I've never seen snow before what do I do fall over drive at 2mph spin wheels to make everything worse crash).  There will be some mess left over tomorrow and by Monday we will have forgotten about it.

About half my office either didn't come in or left before lunch (some not because they wanted to but because their children's schools had closed), and I spent much of the morning helping them get their VPN connections working.

Hey, it's better than the psychotic weather Oklahoma normally gets. Though the sunny weather isn't helping with the drought.

As a Floridian that never has seen snowfall... I have to admit I'm slightly jealous...

But based on the complaints, I think I'd tire of the stuff kinda quickly.  :meh:

It's just starting to snow here. Not very heavy though and it's been raining a lot so the snow isn't settling. My brother in Belfast says it's a bit heavier and we're texting each other about the snow with #pointlesshashtags.

It's been snowing non-stop all day round here and it's settling everywhere. There's maybe 3 inches of snow everywhere.

American Midwest just got done with the last of the snow we had from just after Christmas.

It got replaced by rain that flooded some places.

Last few days have been pretty clear though! If cold. Bloody winter.

Clear and cold today, but yesterday we had 3 inches of wet snow that came down - think slush, falling from the sky (it even comes down in large chunks as the snowflakes stick to each other)

Heavier than shit to shovel.

Just got an email saying that a careers fair for another subject has been cancelled due to the weather.

We have, at a rough estimate, about 2cm of snow.

It's melting...melting!

Up to about 10C today (53F), and everything's a sodden river of melt.

Supposed to snow again on Monday with the next front.

I saw a house getting a new roof put on.  They have half of the old one torn off.  Hope they make it in time!

So few people on the roads today that my journey to and around London and back was the easiest and fastest I've ever done.  All the roads were clear of snow except the first two hundred yards from my house which is icy packed snow on a hill...  Sometimes I approve of people panicking.

I read about Sydney reaching 44.8, with one suburb being even higher.

I feel concern for people there who bicycle to work.

Riding to work isn't too bad, because the heat of the day has not built up. Riding home in the late afternoon again avoids peak temperatures, but is still hot. The key to hot-weather riding is hydration; I carry a minimum of 750ml of water on my handlebars, adding more water and hydration salts as required by the ride-distance and temperature.

Meanwhile I think I may have pulled a rib muscle because I was breathing hard just trying to get from my car, from the garage, and into my apartment building.

Not because it was raining or snowing or anything. But because it was 15 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. FAHRENHEIT.

That's 26 BELOW ZERO in Celsius, which is about a 71 degree temperature difference from that Sydney suburb IICIH talked about.

Think about that for a moment. 100 degrees Celsius is the boiling point of water.

That temperature difference is over 70% of the difference between ice cubes and steam.

It's also about 1/6 less thermal energy than normal room temperature (referenced to Kelvin temp)...which means any air would lose 1/6 of its volume. Yeah, I think you're lucky to get by with a pulled muscle.

I was in -27C in Norway a few years ago and it is SO. COLD. It was horrific. Jens and I went from shop to shop to make our way up the street because we couldn't bear to be outside for long enough to walk past any doorways. It is colder than a chest freezer.

The worst I've had to go through while I've been here was a couple years ago when I had to walk to the lab in a blizzard... it was -5F (-20C), and the wind was strong. I ended up having to duck into the freshman dorm building and warm up halfway through.

On the other hand, it's supposed to be 66F (19C) here tomorrow.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, my little city's supposed to get progressively snowier *and* warmer as the week goes on.

I don't...I'm getting mixed signals here.

I guess "warmer is a relative term...I mean, if it's totally fuckin' cold, then it warms up so that dry ice becomes gaseous CO2 again, then I guess it's technically warmer. Still...not conducive to life. >.<

And I have to go to work, which involves a lot of moving things around outside.

Fuck.
