They were out of bread, but I didn't check for milk or beer. Already have milk, and in Oklahoma it's best to buy beer from liquor stores, not grocery stores (the grocery store stuff is watered down to reduce the alcohol content...)

Boy. I came here to complain about the 3 or so inches of snow we have had on the sidewalks for two days.

I leave. Humbled.  :psyduck:

So far there hasn't been any snow here yet, though I was woken up by several rather loud thunderstorms overnight.

Snowquestration/Storm Saturn was a huge disappointment. We were in the 8-12 inch zone on the maps. Not only was there definitely not 8 to 12 inches of snow, no snow at all stuck in my front yard, and the grass is looking better than it has in months.

Yeah we got less than an inch of snow that actually stuck. I did have to take the bus to work in the middle of the actual "storm" though.

At my mom's house they got 12 inches of snow. I think she'd let you take some of it if you're disappointed in the amount you got.

And double-post because...all of today's cancelled service calls have been stacked onto TOMORROW. Meaning i have 10, count 'em, TEN visits to make. Wheee. It's gonna be a long day.

Honestly, I really can't complain, money is money.

Since the temperature is getting up into the high 80s/low 90s (oF), we just turned the heat pump to cool.

Sorry about that.

Okay, that always gets my craw. How in the #### is it that a country located north of 50 degrees north latitude have temps in the 80's (F) when it's about a quarter of that temp a quarter of the world away to the West?

Three inches of snow overnight, gone by 3 PM.  Clear, sunny - and tonight, clear and temps in the teens fahrenheit (-10 C).

Yeah, spring's here.

I'm further south than you are, I think - south central PA, in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains.  Spring is known for 50o days and midnight frosts.

Carl, it sounds like you and I have pretty similar weather patterns. A few friends joke that the Hudson Valley is the only place you can experience all 4 seasons in one week.

Last week we had a ridiculous snow storm. Heavy snow all day long, got around 3-4 inches. The next day it hit 60o and everything melted. Since then it was between 50-55o until yesterday- dropped down to 30o. Aaaaand apparently we're supposed to get MORE snow tomorrow.

My drive home Monday.

70 miles, took about 2 hours.  The real hazard, of course, is the other drivers - this was a clear patch.

And no, it's not out of focus - it's snowing, goddammit.

The gods apparently did not get enough laughs by dumping snow over great portions of the country, so they sent some to the Phoenix, Arizona area.
back when we were living in the asylum that is Arizona (due to my dad's work) I experienced snow, a few days before christmas 2010. One of the two times I've ever seen it.
It was a really light dusting and only lasted about 20 minutes.

The other time was 04-ish, Thanksgiving morning, in Temecula CA, when we were visiting relatives. That actually gave us a full inch of snow. It stopped snowing snowing around 11am and was completely melted and gone by sunset.

Where we live now,  it's currently 50°F - which also happens to be the nighttime low, according to my weather app.  It topped off at 76°F today.

The worst is when you are just starting to wake up and feel like crap. I don't even have to open my eyes to know the sky looks like crap.
Of course, I have some stupid sensitivity to air pressure, so severe weather gives me headaches and ache-y eyes until it goes away. And of course, I live in Michigan, land of seasonal depression.

Having grown up in one of the nation's cloudiest cities, it actually doesn't bother me a lot to not see the sun for a week or more.  Maybe having blue skies be less than half the skies makes me  appreciate them more? Like, grey is the normal, and blue is a wonderful treat?

It makes me think a little about the problem of "what color is the sky", which if you have any passing interest in linguistics or postmodern theory you have surly run across, I think I have even posted a video or two here. but, where I grew up the most frequent sky color was a horizon to horizon solid, untextured pale grey/white, so why should it be fact that the sky is blue?

I also have mixed feelings on snow with regards to grey skies.  I think a fresh coat of snow brightens things up, but heavy snowfall over an over grinds people down; it feels like some sort of Sisyphean punishment that will never end.  So glad that this part of Michigan does not seem to get pummeled in the same way.

Well, this part of the mitten just loves being a horrible person with the weather. Nowadays, we will actually get pretty clear days in between the snowfalls. However, on these nice, clear, sunny days, the wind picks up to about 10-20 mph with next to no air moisture. It makes walking to class an ordeal. At least nothing's drastic enough to actually interfere with my life, as opposed to one trip I went on once to West Ottawa.

When I say pummeled in the same way, I maybe should explain that I am from Rochester NY which averages 95 inches of snow and has 200 "cloud cover days" (more than 3/4 of the sky is cloud) a year.  It can still be pretty gross and feel like a mild winter to me.  I think I am feeling my acclimation to extreme winters more right now because a lot of my classmates are not from the north and are complaining about how it is still snowing when it is already the end of March.  For me spring comes in April. I don't think I ever though to March as a part of spring.  You may get one or two preview days, but it is not going to be nice until April, and even April will get at least one storm.

Local weather according to one of my favourite unexact weather sites: -2°?! It's fucking cold and snowing.

Even though I probably won't make friends by this post, I have to say that I actually prefer this weather over summer weather. I have to go to school by bicycle everyday, but to me it's still more comfortable to cycle to school in snow, compared to cycling in drizzle, which is usually the default weather here. I can brush the snowflakes off my trousers, before they melt, something I can't do with drizzle or rain. I prefer low temperatures over high temperatures anyway, everything above 20°C makes me frickin' tired, while everything below 5°C makes me lively and cheerful. I don't get winter depression, I tend to get summer depression/aggression. In the winter everything is a little bit dampened, I like the cold, everything appears a bit more calm to me. My perfect day is sunny, around -10°C, crystal clear sky and air, and snow on the ground. When such a day happens to occur, it actually brings a smile onto my face and makes me happy. In the summer it's too hot, the air is usually humid, which makes it harder to breath, I'm sweaty, everything is somewhat sticky, maybe I even need to apply sunscreen, which is even stickier, and I don't feel like moving at all. We're living in a flat, right under the roof, and the window in my room opens into some kind of inner yard, which keeps the air from moving. In the summer I often get around 35°C in my room, even when I open the windows. I can't sleep because of that, and don't feel like doing anything in the day. Result: I'm rather grumpy in the summer. And everybody else is just so chipper. When I turn on the radio or TV, or listen to anybody else, all I hear is how "fantastic" the weather is. This sometimes really makes me want to yell at the screen: "Fuck you! This isn't a fan-fucking-tastic day! It's too fucking hot, I can't do anything, and don't you tell me, how I should be fucking happy about it!"

In other words: I'm happy that it's snowing…

Well, here the current record of temperature is at 35.2°C, but usually the air is rather humid. With some getting used to it I can even cope with the temperatures in Croatia, where it's not too unusual to have over 40°C. On the other hand, the sea is close there, so I can cool down at will. Admittedly, the sea is rather close here too, but the water isn't that nice for swimming compared with the Mediterranean sea.

Sometimes I feel like I'd be better off in Norway…

I want to move further north. Who knows where. Maybe Canada. Or maybe somewhere like Russia or Germany. I like it cold and snowy!

To each their own. I've pretty much lived in Indiana all of my 42 years. I traveled around for several but always ended up back. the older I get the less and less I enjoy winter though. There are other, mostly political, reasons I want to leave Indiana but my youngest is just going into high school and we would like for her to finish that up with her friends. After that a move is possible.

...I maybe should explain that I am from Rochester NY which averages 95 inches of snow and has 200 "cloud cover days" (more than 3/4 of the sky is cloud) a year.

Buffalo.

The year my grandma passed away, my folks inherited her house on Cape Cod.  They were debating selling it, or moving there.  It was close to new years, my mother was listening on the news, and they said that last year had been a record - there were only seven clear days.  In a year.  It was always either overcast, cloudy or actually coming down.  That was in the early 90's.

They moved.

Maybe Norway or another scandinavian country would be a better choice than Germany. It was rather unusual to have snow in every of the last three years. Most of the time it's just drizzle at 1°C, and rain in spring and fall.

Carl, it sounds like you and I have pretty similar weather patterns. A few friends joke that the Hudson Valley is the only place you can experience all 4 seasons in one week.

Oh thank God. We joke about that in Indiana too, only it goes something like "Indiana! If you don't like the weather...wait ten minutes." Least that's how I've always heard it. Freakin' winter-to-spring transition is usually the worst about it.

Here in Indiana we have more snow scheduled for this weekend. I'm over it.

5-10 year plan, move to Puerto Rico.

I have my eyes set on the American Southwest myself. This last winter could have been much worse, but boooooon it nonetheless. Also welcome to forum fellow Hoosier/Sucker!

Here in Oklahoma I've heard that quote, except referring to Oklahoma instead of Indiana, attributed (probably falsely) to Will Rogers.

I've been wondering for a while just how far that saying has spread. I was sure we couldn't be the only ones with it, just like we're not the only ones who play Twenty-One basketball. Just the details might be different.

I asked Google and it says the quote is from Mark Twain and originally referred to New England, although the sources I found suggest that attribution may be suspicious as well.
