Well shit. I am kinda stressing out a little bit. While I was in Japan I got a call back from a company who I really want to work for. Well I called them back a few times a day and couldn't get ahold of them, I left a message, and now I'm just kinda nervous and worrying about how often I can try to get in touch with them without making an ass out of myself

I usually try to abide by the once a day thing. Any less and I feel like I'm not trying hard enough but any more and I start to feel like they can see how nuts I am.  :-P

Exam tomorrow! When that's done, I've got my BA. Woo?

Thing is, I've never been less prepared for an exam. Motivation is close to zero. Like the rabbit that stops to sleep just before the finish line or something. The inner workings of the internet is so boring.

Guess I'll get back too trying to care enough to mac addresses and ARP queries and DHCP blæhrg.

Somehow I got it into my head that BA was used as a shorthand for "bachelor". Oh well.

Hey, maybe, I don't know. Maybe your country does use it like this.

Some unis do that, or did.  My degree is a BA in Engineering Science (Oxon); but the same department's first degree is now (forty years on) called MEng, and includes a whole year's project which I didn't have.

I think it's part of the cheer that goes to the "tune" of "give 'em the axe";

e to the x, dy, dx,
e to the x, dx.
Cosine, secant, tangent, sine,
3.14159,

then there's a line (or two?) I forget, then you get the B.S., M.S., Ph. D. part.

My mind, it's not what it was.  And yet, I just tutored a kid in the differential equation technique of variation of parameters without having seen it in over 15 years... some things stick better than others.

Woot, congrats!

And I seem to remember that there were both  a B.A. and B.S. option for Physics at the university I went to, with a difference of just a couple classes and maybe a few overall units as well. But considering I only made it 2/3 of the way through, the point was moot for me.

Hello Blog Thread!

Lots of fun, random things happening lately. And some not so fun.

Not fun:
Got my credit card info stolen by some douche on the Wal-Mart website. Bought almost $300 in stuff, overdrew my account, pulled from saving/overdraft protection and got me $20 in fees. Good news is that it's almost resolved. Filed a dispute, got my money back, gotta fill out a crapload of paperwork and switch over all my cards but then it's behind me.

Fun:
Booked honeymoon for a REALLY awesome price- around $1,800 for 6 nights in Jamaica at a resort that has seriously kick-ass reviews (including round trip airfare). All-inclusive except excursions. Leaving in 2 weeks. Woooot!

Challenging but Fun:
I've never been outside the states and I'm completely clueless about international travel. TIME TO LEARN STUFF.

More Fun:
Found out that there is an opening for a full time art teacher at the high school I student taught at!!! I did my internship there and the cooperating teacher requested me back for student teaching placement.  MORE WOOT.

Not Fun:
I am a flake and lost the letter of recommendation that she wrote me. She emailed it and my old college switched servers and purged the old one so everything is gone :-(

Fun:
I spoke to her and she said she will look for it and also put a good word in for me with the principal. And I'm name dropping in my cover letter and using her as a reference. So, all hope is not lost.

Also Fun:
At the wedding, everyone told me over and over again that I should start my own business selling my creations. Now that the wedding is over, I've realized that I have no excuse for not making art. I always said I didn't have enough time to do it but if I had time to pull everything together for the wedding, why not now? I've decided to open an Etsy shop with my best friend (who helped me make all my flowers). I am PUMPED for this. Doing fun things and making money at the same time? Hell yes.

Even More Fun:
It is now the beginning of yard sale season here in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Since I have plans to open up a shop, this means I can actually enjoy yard sale-ing and searching for fun treasures to paint/etch/decoupage/deconstruct/reconstruct/etc. Hellooooooo summer of creativity :-)

That was a response to a very localised outburst, and was entirely effective.  It may end up in the rules area, though.

The emphasis is on the word 'might'. I haven't seen the room yet, but my potential roomie is already convinced that I'd make a good roommate. I met him yesterday, and apparently drunk Noyan made a good impression.

I don't mean to judge or anything, although I guess it comes across that way in retrospect. I just hardly even lurk here anymore, so I was free to imagine the scenario as being way ridiculous. It legitimately made me laugh is all and not much does that. Stay classy, internet.

I think I needed two, but to be fair, I got it on release day at midnight, came home, read it for a few hours till morning, then fell asleep.

Unicorn: what's a flowy skirt? Also, there is no mention of a top anywhere...

also i read deathly gallows in just under twelve hours when i got it.

new reply! a flowy skirt is a skirt that is long and flows and is excellent for walking down stairs and standing in winds.

also no top. a skirt, a shawl, and a scarf.

That's why it felt necessary to give a shout out to the ol' self-aware makeout zone. This is very much an "Ambassador, our people tell the same story" moment for me.

Although, actually, i'm pretty sure the only thing I've ever hit on here or on PJ was an empanada. I didn't really start posting until all the goofiness had already started to become a running joke.

That's why it felt necessary to give a shout out to the ol' self-aware makeout zone.

As you can see, general chatter has now (just recently) been divided up so that there is a separate forum for threads about relationships, lifestyle and problems - that forum still has "awkward self-aware talky zone" in its description as a nod to the past.

i just feel blindsided and angry and hurt because i've never had a nice place to live before and now i won't. i am being told that in <30 days i am going to be homeless unless i do something, but i don't know what to do.

and i am angry that literally the only stable living situation i have ever had is being taken away from me and my focus instead ofnpersonal growth and connecting with myself so as to connect with others now has to take a backseat to mere/sheer goddamn fucking SURVIVAL.
