I am bored on the Internet
« on: 23 Jan 2013, 23:15 »

The wealth of human knowledge is at my fingertips, but I'm bored.

Am I spoiled or what?  :-D

"I'm Bored" said the man, broadcasting his thoughts via a machine smaller than a textbook, instantly to people across an entire globe.

Read QC again, from back to front.

And if you're still bored after that, then read

Don't worry, it's not like lemonparty. It's just not for children, that's all. I'm pretty sure you won't be bored after that.

Read a book! There are millions of books on the internet, and hundreds of those books are deemed to be worth reading by millions of people.

You can start at gutenberg.org

When I am bored I like to do some low brainpower crowd-sourcing task to help science.
My current fave:

Pinterest cures my boredom quickly. Before that existed my boredom buster of choice was StumbleUpon. I recently downloaded the Bloom Pop and Candy Crush apps.....they are the perfect balance of pointless but enjoyable for me.

When I'm bored and not on the internet I reorganize things (this is the go-to), play with the cat, doodle and knit.

Oh, and eat. And then eat some more. Gotta work on that.

Kat- that's nifty :-) What are some past faves?

1. I don't drink.
2. I'm using a desktop PC.
3. I don't care much for Gutenberg's formatting.  I normally stick to Wikisource and archive.org (partially because I love how they animate page turns).

wow the nerdiest, awesomess thing I have ever found on youtube.  And they used science to back up the results at the end of the fight.  Increasing the nerdness beyond 9000!

There could be loads of stuff there that you just don't know the URL of.

Try www.purple.com instead.

I don't know, but I first found it when I was in high school.

And I graduated in 2003...

I have a domain that I've maintained for ten years but not used yet; my plan for it is still in place, though.

I own 33 domains, but only 6 of them have active web sites.

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

That must mean I'm using the space then...my work email is thru GoDaddy, between me and my coworkers they've gotta have half a terrabyte of old emails just sitting.
