Stealth Meetup
« on: 18 Feb 2013, 14:36 »

Yesterday, Redball and I conducted a "stealth meet up."  He borrowed HannerMom's invisible aircraft and dropped in.

We enjoyed good food and good conversation.  We talked music, books, libraries, science fiction, New York City, movies, plays, seafood, east coast versus west coast seafood, and probably other topics that I can't remember.

The good food was Tex-Mex, and was delicious.

Since there is a "pictures or it didn't happen " feeling in this forum,
here we are: celticgeek and Redball, having a toast on celticgeek's holodeck.

A successful experiment.

"Pics or it didn't happen" implies that one of you has to hold up a newspaper from that day, should we need to validate your meetup as an alibi when you're brought in for questioning...oops, I've said too much.

Indeed...better hope whomever is on the right side doesn't end up on an away team...

Because he'll become a victim of the curse of the redshirts, doncha know?! ;D

I agree about the away team.

The glasses were a present, and at the same time I also got a bottle of "Red Shirt" aftershave, which has a bullet hole on the bottle.  I am sort of afraid to wear any of it.

The gifts were not from Redball, they were from my son-in-law, and yes I am concerned about that  :)  Not really, we really like my son-in-law.

And yes, it was very delightful meetup.

It was a grand meetup, and I talked rather a lot.

I left my iPhone on the toilet paper holder in the restaurant's men's room Sunday, and drove back the 90-100 miles today to retrieve it, having lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Celticgeek in the same restaurant today -- and wondering on the drive, "Le'ssee, did I tell them this one? Did I tell them that one?"

Don't think I was too repetitious.

And it should be pointed out, that Celticgeek and I appear to be the oldest members of the forum. That gave the meeting a special gravitas.

Oh, and the tails on his cats: large, but sort of artistically wispy. If women had tails like cats, some would have them permed like that. And that's not the Butts Disease talking.

Oh, and FWIW, I'm the guy on the right. The one with the redder face.

Redball was not repetitious, he was fascinating.

I have check through my photographs, and cannot find a good one of my cats' tails, so I will sneak up on them and get a picture of their tails and post it.

A kind of awful set of "mysteries" your wife may not have read consists of about 30 paperbacks by Lilian Jackson Braun all starting with "The Cat Who..." I liked them anyway because the owner of the two cats was a newspaper reporter. But whenever someone tried to take pictures of one of his magnificent Siamese, it would start licking its butt. So good luck!

We have read "The Cat Who ..." mysteries (are there only 30?  it seemed more like 300).  I did go stalking my cats, and yes, butt licking was the major activity.  But I shall persevere.

Sue Grafton (another mystery writer) had a detective named Kinsey Malone.  Our daughter named one of her cats Kinsey, after that detective.  Sue Grafton was in town a few years ago, signing books, and she signed one for our daughter and for Kinsey the cat.

Most of the year, I'd  be good for a meet-up anywhere east of the Mississippi and from, say, Virginia and Tennessee north. I might be able to host one in an A-frame in southern Michigan that sleeps a total of 10 (in various degrees both of mattress quality and privacy) with a heatable in-ground pool and smallish hot tub. My wife and I had 112 around the pool for our daughter's wedding 11 years ago.

"Redball": Yeah, I do associate it somewhat with complexion; my last name is Ball and my dad after WWII told me about the Redball Express supplying front line troops in Europe. He may have driven trucks on the route.
