On a date, probably with someone who we've seen in passing in the comic before. (I haven't archive binged recently enough to be able to guess who, though).

Most of the comics I follow have already been mentioned, but I haven't seen anyone bring up Freefall, which has a keptomaniacal alien and some fascinating explorations of the social consequences of AI, League of SuperRedundant Heroes, a send-up of superhero clichés, and Strong Female Protagonist, which I can't summarize better than the author did:"SFP follows the adventures of a young middle-class American with super-strength, invincibility and a crippling sense of social injustice."

The artwork in Stand Still, Stay Silent is absolutely amazing, every panel is so detailed, it's almost unimaginable to think that it's a daily. And the story is as good as the art.

Catching up to Sam & Fuzzy again, must say it's a really good comic! The arc(s) of the last couple of years have been really interesting and well written, all while staying funny.

If you're not familiar, Sam & Fuzzy is one of those comics that started up as a typical gag-a-day strip in the early '00s, then Cerebus Syndrome'd (WARNING: TV Tropes link) into a mix of comedy/scifi/romance/fantasy/drama with huge, complex plot arcs, much like Sluggy Freelance or Roomies/It's Walky.

With Halloween coming up I'm trying to find a certain comic. It centers around a group of women telling scary stories, one of which involves sharing a cursed photo over the internet that acts somewhat like the ring

I started reading Stand Still, Stay Silent yesterday (after seeing it mentioned by someone, somewhere in this thread), and so far i seems really great. The art is amazing and the setting seems interesting.

That said, I've read like 120 (elaborate) pages so far, and we haven't even met the entire main cast yet.. If this had been a comic that had been running for 10 years, this would be a cool thing, but this means I'm likely to reach the end of the archive without really even getting to the actual plot (The main plot seems to be an expedition, and 120 pages in we're still on the part where the crew is assembling).

That's the hazard of starting your archive binge too early. When the comic has gone for 10 years then it'll seem fine that there's so little progression is beginning. Besides, its world building see when they go somewhere we don't know why they're coming unless we know where they came from. Please excuse my punctuation I'm on my phone and I can't type because my wrist is hurt.

There's another webcomic from the same artist, and it's completed, so you can binge on A Redtail's Dream (it's loosely based on Finnish mythology)

Interesting to hear the talk about webcomics morphing, because I gave up on Sluggy and Wapsi years ago.

Sluggy is kind of a tough read, especially if you start from the beginning, but I hold on to it being worth it. No other comics I've read are able to be both silly & funny as well as serious & dramatic to such a degree as SF, and still make it work.

On a different note, I just read through A Redtail's Dream last night. All 550 pages. Not sure how I feel about it.

I'm pretty sure I read more than 10 years of sluggy from the start. I felt like it went off its rails at some point.

Overall, I would recommend reading the archive, as it's good. I just don't follow it any more.

Well, that's kind of the thing; Sluggy is all about going off the rails, love it or hate it.

Also, I absolutely would not recommend reading Sluggy on a daily basis. You really need to binge at least a month's worth of comics at a time for it to be as enjoyable as it can be, otherwise you'll just get a lot of out-of-context nonsense, imo.

In terms of mainstream webcomics, I'm a follower of Dilbert (although I get the impression that Scott Adams is losing his interest in it sometimes). Being a sci-fi freak, I also read Marc Stanley's Freefall and used to read Crimson Dark when it was still being updated (David C Simon now working for Lucasfilms means that he is more interested in writing Star Wars than his OCs).

One of my early favorites is Angels2200

Sadly, this seems to have stalled as the storyline was excellent and well written. There have been a couple of updates in the past year, but it seems that the comic has ground to a halt.

Oh, on the topic of zombie webcomics. A couple of years ago I remember starting to read this relatively new comic about a guy that gets turned into a zombie during the zombie apocalypse and have to try to live that way. Was kind of similar in setting to Warm Bodies (though not in tone, I think). Can't really remember if it was any good, but I'd like to check back on it again. Anyone?

I had the priviledge of reading FreakAngels how it happened. It's pretty darned spectacular.

I was surprised it was over so quickly as well, we didn't really get any closure there. Maybe it's going to tie in to something later.

I actually missed the characters when I reached the end and realized that it was done. Every character feels like a person, despite the large cast. Most comics have a hard time managing more than four main characters before someone becomes a stereotype or a gag character, but Warren Ellis writes well enough that he can be all "Here's twelve people with crazy powers who are still totally relatable, plus a foul-mouthed girl from Manchester, who you will also relate to." Cue sunglasses and Deal with it caption.

One I haven't seen posted here yet (there are definitely more, but I can never remember until it's update day for them for some reason) is nerf this! Great art, really funny, sometimes has a coherent plot. Gratuitous use of the word "penis" and describing things in terms of "gallons of babies"

Unfortunately, it only updates every couple of weeks now, but there's about a 1000 strips already up

Just read through it, and well.. mixed feelings. The art is good and the characters are cool (although way over the top), but the comic kind falls apart because of a tone that's so all over the place it's insane. The last year or two had more or less one continuous arc, that got pretty dramatic, but all the while there were penis jokes. I really like that it dares to go for some pretty dark and "offensive" humor, but things are stretched too far for the sake of jokes. Characters like Chase, Zoey and Mr Mills are cool characters, but their !!!EXTREME WACKINESS!!! makes the comic pretty hard to care about. Tone it down some, less is more

So, we have a furry in my gaming community (he uses his fursona in game, he's tolerant of our questions and general ignorance of furries and we're not dicks to him about it like other communities/clans) and it just reminded me of some of the comics I read that have human/animal hybrid characters.

The first two I feel could work even without characters being hybrids (the plot anyway) and the last I think is good because it can equated with racism/prejudice. All are pretty funny and can be related to on some level.

TwoKinds has gotten amazing lately, but it's AGONY to wait for the comic. It takes so friggin long. We've been on the bloody ship for years now.
