I've just realised that QC and DoA may be the most PG Rated comics I read Online

How chilling is that?

It means I can probably guess two of the comics you read on a regular basis. One starts with an "O" and the other ends with a "3".

Octopus Pie and Menage á 3?

I read the first, and find it quite good, but Má3 was way too much blatant wish fulfillment for me. It was like reading an erotic fan-fic.

Ma3 is supposed to be a parody, heck the MC is called Gary.

And I was guessing Oglaf.

Being a deliberate parody is not an excuse for being not-that-great. I'm looking at you, Lonely Island.

Oh, I mean, I don't think Ma3 is all that funny anymore, but it's not supposed to be taken seriously. Blatant wish fulfillment is what it's parodying is all I'm getting at.

I can say that I've never found Lonely Island to be that great. For parody songs I always thought Jon Lajoie was the best.

mmmm.. I dunno. Gary seems to hop between being a Gary Stew and an inversion of the trope. Generally a Mary Sue/Gary Stew character is one that is so perfect that they are unbelievable. Everyone loves them, they have the answer to everything and even any flaws they have are so minor or convoluted that they actually make people love that character even more. Where as Gary in the comic is getting dumped on left right and center, is always in trouble because of those wacky hijinks of his friends... Yet he's still loved by so many hot women and guys. I would call him more a classic hapless hero from a 'harem' anime than a Gary Stew.

I didn't quite know where to put this, it's technically a game, but it's made from one of my favorite webcomic artists (Jack Cayless). And it is more of a story game with a lot webcomicy like things.

Huh that's funny, I actually like the art and setting but I'm not so thrilled about the characters and plot.  I can't pin down what it is exactly. But the whole sci-fi world with magic and souls is intriguing.

And that bit with the cosmetic surgery machine? Holy shit.

I'm not bothered by it, although creative paneling can be used to amazing effect in webcomics (see Aaron Diaz's blog about this) not having it isn't a big deal. The site uses some kind of caching that reduces the loading times for the next image to almost zero, so that's a nice feature, it means you're almost never waiting for the image to load.

I've been rechecking my RSS subscriptions to check whether any comic feeds broke, and yep, Flaky Pastry has completely failed to send me updates. Romantically Apocalyptic's feed doesn't work either, and that one I really like! Luckily those are the only ones, the rest are either still updating or dead in the water.

I though at first it was like that to get more ad revenue from a slow-to-make comic, but it seems like you don't reload the page at all except for new chapters.. I guess this format let's the art shine by having bigger resolutions, but I think I'd still prefer 2x2 format or something creative instead..

I don't blame you, I just reread the whole thing and I'm still not totally clear on things. Agatha says she has to go to Paris with the train (why? dunno), then shit happened and the train and passengers escaped to the railway fortress, then more shit happened and they're trying to contain a murderous, rampaging, sentient locomotive. Then suddenly, bears.

Mechanicsburg is trapped inside a "temporal stasis" bubble. Agatha plans to go see The Master of Paris to see if he knows anything about it.

Vole got pulled out of the stasis bubble by Gil, but immediately started to age when he came to.

I do think the Professors are starting to get story fatigue, as they have been telling this story now for over a decade, and they are only 60% or so of the way done.

*puts on a Transylvania Polytechnic Faculty pin*

So, at the end of the last big arc, Baron Wulfenbach tried to invade/destroy Castle Heterodyne to stop Agatha, or more specifically The Other, who is inhabiting Agatha's body, from eventually enslaving or destroying Europe. In the end, the Castle and the loyal Heterodyne people, plus the Jaegermonsters who returned to Agatha's side when they found out she was the True Heterodyne held off the Baron's combined forces until he stepped in personally, flying into the middle of town and setting off a time-stasis bomb. Agatha barely managed to escape at the last moment, shoved through a portal in the basement of the Castle. However because of the stasis bomb, she comes through the other side of the portal three years later.

In the meantime, the Baron is stuck in Mechanicsberg with the rest of time-stuck people so Gil has taken over the empire. He has been apparently running himself ragged, trying to free people from Mechanicsberg, locate Agatha who he believes is alive and free and run a very unstable empire, as many minor houses saw the loss of the Baron as an opportunity. Not helped by the Storm King being a strong contender, and after Agatha himself. Gil's become even more Mad than ever. He did manage to pull Commander Vole out of the time field... Since Jaegers are very tough and long lived, he is able to survive the 'thawing out' process, where as most people suddenly aging three years in under an hour kills them.

Agatha in the mean time has been reunited with her inner circle that escaped Mechanicsberg. Jaegermonster Dimo has been promoted to General and been running a harrying force against the Empire, trying to stay out of their hands. Helped somewhat by Zeetha and Higgs having a (not terribly) secret relationship. Agatha and company decide to get out of Europe and make their way to Paris icognito, hoping to find a way to Free Mechanicsberg, get The Other out of Agatha's head or at least lock her up there permanently and generally keep everyone from capturing her for their own purposes. They decide to take the train there under cover since they are a neutral force.

On the way they meet the Lady Selinkov who falls in with their group. The train is attacked by a spark with a giant clank and the bear warriors, under command of the Storm King. Despite trying to fight them off, they fail and are forced to flee in one of the train carts, transformed into a dirigible and head back to the train's monastery home. General Dimo is injured and captured by the bear warriors at this point. At the Monastery, the Storm King shows up and pressures them to submit to him. Meanwhile his agent Lady Selinkov who we found has been part of an engineered plot by the Storm King forces a monk to lead her into the vaults where dangerous things are kept, trying to find something. While she fails to find what she was looking for and gets killed in the process, she winds up freeing a sentient, greedy and crazed locomotive clank that starts rampaging through the Monastery, eating everything as it goes. This forces the brothers to accept the Storm King's help in destroying the monster, as well as Agatha's.

In the mean time, Dimo is brought before the Bear King because they smelt the Master on him. The King gets Dimo to lead them to where the Master is... and the big surprise this week being that the Master is Krosp, not Agatha like everyone was assuming. I think that brings the major points home...

I think time travel is involved somehow as well. Didn't Vole go in/out of a stasis bubble thing?

Yes he did, when they pulled that off I had completely forgotten who Vole was. It's kind of interesting, between the activation of the time bubble two and a half years have passed, but not even a second has passed inside Mechanicsburg. So apparently if you pull someone out of the field, it's like releasing them from a time slingshot: the temporal difference rapidly accelerates their age to make up for the lost time, but it doesn't stop there, the sheer momentum of the effect flings them hundreds of years into the future. Internally that is.

Which doesn't make a lick of sense to be honest; why is time being sped up for Vole's body only? Spacetime has no reason to care about the tenuous boundary between living and nonliving things. If you stab him with a knife while he's rapidly aging, does the blade rust away immediately? And how is his brain still functioning in regular time? There's no rhyme or reason in it. They better have something interesting planned with ancient Vole.

So now if the time bubble is removed, from Mechanicsburg's perspective it's like they were suddenly warped a few years into the future, but that's all the time travel that's going on. No paradoxes or anything.

BTW: Jägers have tails?!

I just got the image of a midwife and a woman giving birth swinging towards each other on a trapeze - when they meet, the midwife pulls the baby out. The knife juggler is standing on the floor and cuts the umbilical cord with a a knifethrow.

Jaegers have very different body structures. Whatever process they use to make them gives them animalistic features, especially teeth, claws, oddly colored skin/fur, increased muscle mass and in at least some cases horns and tails. But it seems to be completely unique to each jaeger.

I wonder how well he'll keep that going, given that I've never known him publish on the predicted date however long the interval.

He has a paid assistant now thanks to his Patreon, so that will probably allow him to keep a schedule as long as that money well doesn't dry up.
