This was Poppy's 2016 April Fool's update.

Quote from: Ian Everett
Now I know what you're all thinking. "Are we doing that thing again, where there's secretly a real spoiler hidden inside all of these joke changes? Is it the really obvious, kind of normal one? Is that one TOO obvious and normal? Is it offensive to assume that all cats with Siamese markings are related?" The answer to all these questions and more, on Monday's update.

And then, three months later, this. Gods damn it. That's the second time!

So I just recently discovered Pictures of You, and it's now absolutely one of my favorite webcomics and I'm only on part two of book three.

I've had a problem like the one at the beginning of that xkcd comic before. Firefox would randomly spawn new windows. Turns out the problem was when I reinstalled my laptop's keyboard after replacing the CPU fan, I accidentally shorted a connection on the ribbon cable, causing the OS to see the useless "web browser" button as constantly pressed down. The solution turned out to be to tell the OS to ignore that button.

I never found Martin's Sword, though. To the best of my knowledge, Martin's doesn't sell swords.

It's just a flesh wound.

I like that the most recent xkcd goes so far over my head I've lost sight of it. It means there's depths of nerddom that I don't even know about yet.

As an undergrad I once tried to redirect my university email to the email account that Cron normally uses (the one they're talking about in the comic). I did it horribly wrong and ended up spamming the whole university with bounce messages.  :psyduck:

Chapter 3 of Eagle Ordinary just started! The title page makes me wonder what is happening.  Is that a rogue trader guard messing with the Lt's Guard and who is standing before the bed? Too bad I'll have to wait until next week for page 1. :venonat:

Just saw the latest Gunnerkrigg Court. It's probably the 1980s/1990s softie in me but I couldn't help but hear the climax of Unchained Melody as the boat drifted off into the light.

Tom really is spectacularly good at telling stories entirely silently and making it quite clear to the reader what is happening and where things are going.

I stumbled on Rejected Princesses, which is not exactly a comic, but more a series of illustrated historical accounts. It's a little like Badass of the Week if it focused exclusively on women.

Also, Dr. McNinja has come to an end.

Has anyone else checked out Rosianna Rabbit? I really like the art style! Be careful though! Some of the comics can be a bit lewd and suicide can sometimes be the punch line.

As far as I can tell, its about a French Rabbit and her misadventures.

I've seen them around. Saying they can be 'a bit lewd' strikes me as an understatement. Fuck, at some points it's as explicit as Oglaf! It's just less often so.

Quote
Well folks, that’s “it” for Poppy as a comic. Starting with Poppy 8’s cover on September 8th, I’ll be transitioning the series to a web novel medium, updating every Monday and Friday with 1000-2000 word updates accompanied by illustrations. I know it might seem disappointing now, but try to bear with me for a bit, and I’ll try to make it worth your time.

For anyone worried about the visual element of the story disappearing, don’t be. I’m just cutting out all the chaff that comes with long-form comics, like so many panels where characters stand around talking. You’ll still get all the weird character designs Poppy is known for. And the comical reactions. And even some storytelling told through sequential panels and full-page comic updates here and there. In my eyes, the text still exists to complement the drawings, rather than the other way around.

In any case, I want to thank everyone for sticking with me this far, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy Poppy regardless what may come.
-I. Everett

Well, that came outta nowhere.

Several webcomics, including my fave over at Wapsi Square, experienced extended downtime this week because of Harvey.

The webhost for WS is located in NW Houston, and has had issues with staying up during the last few major storms out there.

It frequently goes on weeks, sometimes months long unannounced hiatus. He's also doing a convention recently so... JL8 has always been an irregularly published comic, so you just have to enjoy it whenever new pages come out.

I know I did in the pointless thread yesterday.  Sorry.

As for JL8 I haven't caught up since Lois and Clark cane out of the sewers.  Has it progressed much since then?  I also really like Diana in this one.  Very opposed to being a princess.
