So, my prediction for next week.. Marten will bring up the snuggles with one of the other cast members, who will of course not be able to keep the secret, and then when it gets back to Claire, they're finally forced to talk about it with each other.

Well half of my prediction seems to be correct so far!

Also, as far as Faye is concerned, Team Same!!

Team different.

Faye looks odd to me - not sure whether its her hair or weight or something else, but she definitely looks a bit different.

I think the difference is just from the style of dress and the bright color. We're just not used to seeing Faye in that style of clothes! Here's a comparison of Faye in today's strip and last time we saw her..

Maube it's the fact she's looking on the bright side. Is this actually Faye? I think the Pod People have been and gone while Marten was up Nawth. Or ovah East. Damn, I'm not really sure of the gejog locash where things is at.

She's definitely slimmed down a bit since 1892, but that was what, two years ago real-time?

Which, at the rate Jeph's been going lately, is about three months ago comic-time.

So I just had a super blond moment and read '1892' as a year, instead of a comic number..... *facepalm*

Not what I was anticipating; as some others posted, I was expecting a page or two of the drive home.  Have a question. Faye's appearance was bothering me for some reason, then I realized what it was, shouldn't her scar be showing in that dress?

[...] shouldn't her scar be showing in that dress?

The last time we saw her in it, a tiny portion of the scar did show. Though to play Devil's Advocate, she could have just adjusted the dress up a bit to cover it though, based on how little of it was showing in the last comic.

edit: Now that I went through that mini-arc again, I actually think that was the beginning of her cleavage.. but the point of adjustment remains the same.

I am not fond of how Faye looks in that dress. She reminds me of the mother in "Family Circus"

...and that's really not a good thing. She's all domestic and 1950's.

I am hoping to see Claire's side of this conversation next too, but I don't know who she would talk to. She doesn't seem particularly close to Tai, and given she's nominally the boss of both her and Marten... could be uncomfortable. Emily? uhhh. She's a nice girl, but trying to have a serious relationship conversation with her would be probably frustrating and funny.

Claire randomly runs into Raven, whom she doesn't know, of course.

Particularly because this would get Raven back into the cast. And I am dieing to see Raven interact with Emily eventually. The universe would probably implode from the weirdness overload.

Oh Loki!  :psyduck: I think you mean the awesomness overload! Haha that would be epic!

I now want to file a formal petition for the meeting of Raven and Emily.

For some reason, I envision a Highlander-esque duel somewhere in that mini-arc.   :-D

I don't see Martens work relation to Claire as anything like that. Marten is a lowly unskilled helper at the library. Claire is on the career track to become a librarian. Claire's supervisor must be a librarian, who have, no doubt quite informally, left most of the more practical stuff to Tai. Tai has, equally imformally, passed the buck to Marten. Marten is not in any meaningful way Claire's boss.

He has seniority.  That's why he was training them.  But his position is basically that of a paid intern anyway, so I'm doubtful he has any superiority in his position.

Please try to read that without the unintended innuendo.

But feel free to leave the intended innuendo right where it is?

Who would she talk to about it, though?

Emily.

Emily is not a good person to tell secrets to.

And you don't think Jeph knows that?

Wait, do we know Emily is a bad person to tell secrets to?
Have we seen her break a confidence?

If anything, she seems quite likely to completely forget the secret before she got the chance to tell…

Or remember the secret but forget that it's supposed to be secret.

Honestly, in the QCverse Claire's best bet for a confidant is Mieville. Cats don't inadvertently blurt out the secrets you tell them.

I don't think Emily would go telling secrets. But having a serious relationship confusion conversation with her... She seems to have a very unique take on life.... Okay, she's a goof and Claire would probably stagger off in even more confusion than before after the talk.

She still remembers that she's friends with Marten, right? She's often keen to point out that "fact".

I agree with Neko_Ali's stance...she'll just confuse the hell out of everyone and get her hands stuck in Claire's hair again.

Emily is naïve and flighty enough I don't think Claire's secret would be safe with her.  She would probably A: not realize what a Big Deal it actually is, B: not be used to hiding things in general.  I think we've all known (or been) someone like that.

I still don´t think emily is the person to go with in this situation, i think this could actually be used for Claire to interact with someone she hasn't interacted with yet, im pretty sure jeph wouldn´t have the slightest problem coming up with a situation for that.
Also has everyone forgotten about Gabby? so she IS dissapearing, so fast you guys forgot what i said  :psyduck:

The second DDOS has not yet stopped, though it has reduced; the server manager has put a system* in place to try to defuse the attack, which is why the sites are now working, but a bit erratic.

As someone who knows a few white hat hackers (shoutout to XDA) and has huge respect for black hats (anonymous, lulzsec, ect), attacks like this piss me of to no end, because I actually understand how they work.

Anyone who does something like this is the tech community's equivalant of that annoying little 10 year old who spawns in all the good items, ruins the game for everyone, and tarnishes the reputation of the entire console.
