You people all need to let the artery clogging light of bacon into your hearts.

Been there, had the heart attack.

Bacon, as in all things, is best enjoyed in moderation.

I mean, why would you want to take all that smoky, salty greased goodness for granted?

Eeek, I can't do the spicy pepper thing. They make me all sniffly and snotty and teary and gross.

However, bacon and olive pizza is fabulous.

I know it's a matter of preference, but...why ruin good bacon pizza (or anything) with olives? They're quite gross to my taste buds.

Yea, what with all the fart jokes and songs about hedgehogs that they keep singing, I quite agree with you.

Wut? Olive is one of two things - a MehFood or a ReindeerDog.  :psyduck: :psyduck:

Tasteless as in "considered to ... offend against what is regarded as appropriate behaviour" rather than "lacking flavour".

What's a ReindeerDog? Lapponian Herders don't seem to fit either of those definitions.

It's not "ReindeerDog", it's just "Reindog".

Yikes, I didn't realize that olives were such a hot topic around here! To each his own, I suppose :-)

I eat them with everything. In addition to pizza, they are wonderful in salads- green salads, pasta salads, chicken salad, taco salad.......om nom nom nom nom

Started a low-carb diet a week ago. Bacon is invaluable to said diet. Hooray for bacon.

I was reading one of my favorite blogs, and the recipe list made me think of this thread.

And then THIS line made me LOL so hard I blew Mtn. Dew thru my nose....  :D
(3) Selective Tourettes while cooking is the only thing keeping me from my own Food Network show (#^@& Mother *#&@ that's HOT!)

Part of the recipe list:
Bacon and Onion Tart
Bacon and Shrimp Eggs Benedict
Bacon Cheddar Quiche
Bacon Coleslaw
Bacon Florentine Style Quiche
Bacon infused refried beans
Bacon Maple Cupcakes
Bacon Maple Deep Dish Quiche
Bacon Maple Whiskey Scones
Bacon Quiche with Hash Brown Crust
Bacon Redeye Gravy on Cornmeal-Chive Biscuits
Bacon Swiss Quiche
Bacon Waffles

MY favorite recipe:  (and it only took me 3 tries to get it right)
Gun Show Meat Sauce

2 cans (14.5 ounces) whole tomatoes
2 cans tomato paste
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried parsley
(Note, if you are really short on time you can substitute two jars of basil tomato marinara sauce for these first four ingredients).

1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon Penzey's Italian seasoning (a general mixture of thyme, oregano, rosemary and basil)
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 or 3 grinds of fresh ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper.
1 large onion
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic roasted and chopped (or used jarred minced garlic).
1/2 heaping teaspoon wild honey
1/2 cup red dry table wine (I used Smoking Loon Merlot)
1 1/2 pounds ground venison
1 tube of "hot" breakfast sausage (I used Jimmy Deans but Bob Evans also has a good one)
9-10 pieces center cut bacon
4 ounces goat cheese

Mix tomatoes, paste, spices and honey and let simmer for 15 minutes while you do the next steps.

Saute onion with garlic until softened in the olive oil, do not drain. While it caramelizes, fry venison, drain (if needed) and set aside. Fry pork sausage, drain and set aside. Cook bacon, drain and chop. Add meats into sauce and let simmer, covered on low for another 15-30 minutes. Add red wine and continue to cook for another 15-45 minutes on low, covered. (Times are estimate, I put the burner on very low and let it sit, covered, for an hour after just adding the meat and the wine, as I had a couple guests running late).

Just before serving stir in 4 ounces of goat cheese (or cream cheese) and stir until blended

Serve over pasta with Parmesan/Romano to sprinkle on the top.
