I've never given less of a fuck about a game than I have trying to play Fallout: New Vegas.

It's from a Studio Ghibli film. :-)

This. I don't like any of the Fallout series. Same reason I don't like any of the Bioshock games I've played. They just look too fucking depressing.

Now, the Bioshock games I love, to be fair.

But with New Vegas it was just ridiculous for me.

When I was dying of pneumonia several years ago Ackblom12, to whom I am married, was playing through Bioshock. I was delirious or asleep for most of the day, but when he came home from work, after he made me drink a cup of broth, I would whine "play the movie game" until he moved from his computer desk to the sofa, and then I would fade in and out of sleep curled up next to him while he played.

I still call it the movie game, even though I now possess the faculties to remember the real title.

When Jens (my brother) played Fallout: New Vegas, all of us siblings sat there watching it, it was really exciting! Also the soundtrack is absolutely amazing.

Anything else you'd like to tell us: I lurk and then surface to make a post or two and then go back to lurking. Fallout: New Vegas is not only one of the few games that kept my attention long enough to finish but that I've played through more than once.

'Exciting' certainly wasn't what I took from the presentation.

All HTML-codes do.

It's usually not a problem. The standard filter goes like this:

1) Ignore normal symbols. Find a special symbol that can be replaced with an equivalent of the form &whatever;
2) Replace that symbol by &whatever;
3) If there are other symbols, go to 1.
4) You are finished.

After that, you will have a text that:
was entered as <&>
was replaced by <&>
The browser sees it as <&> in the HTML and displays it as <&>, so that's all fine.

The problems start if you apply the filter two times. Then your text:
was entered as <&>
was replaced by <&>
was then replaced <&>
The browser sees it as <&> in the HTML and displays it as <&> on your screen (like you can see in ackblom12's post).

Anything else you'd like to tell us: I usually post a lot more but I'm getting married in a month and am pretty overwhelmed with a ton of stuff so I've been absent for a while. And now there are a bunch of new people here! Hello new people :-) Also, I love cheese, art, learning/teaching and bargain shopping (and parentheses).

I've been known to annoy people with my use of parenthetical statements (I really like parentheses (like, I really REALLY like them (like, I nest them to ridiculous levels))).

It's probably bad that I knew that that:

1. Was something that you can actually run (Perl, I think?)
2. Does bad things (crashes the system)

Without looking at the link.

Male
24
5'9" (I seem to be on the short side for guys on here. Of course, my dad and grandfather are 5'4" and 5'2", respectively, so it could be much worse. My growth spurt came very late (summer between freshmen/sophomore year in HS), so most of my childhood I assumed I would be short like my dad. I was 4'11" at the end of my freshman year. I then proceeded to grow over 6" in just over a year. There were a lot of growing pains associated with that. Mostly as a result of no longer being able to walk right under things like cupboard doors and tree branches without ducking... I then continued to grow at a more sedate pace until about 21 (I just had to grow that last inch after 18, so that I had to purchase new dress uniforms even though the ones I was issued at basic were still in perfect condition)).
US
Other: I also enjoy parentheses (as is probably apparent). Other than that I enjoy basketball, tennis, computer gaming (especially RPG's and turn-based strategy), and reading (I am a stickler for physical books, my collection is already approaching a small library, and a large portion of my disposable income goes into books. And I read every single one of them.).

Gender: Male
Age: 51. Some days I feel older, most a lot younger.
Height: 5'7"
Country: United States (PA)
Anything else you'd like to tell us: Reformed Mathematician. That is, I don't "do" math anymore, I just teach it. And I don't really succeed at that - oh, I'm an excellent teacher, but I suck at campus politics, so I tend to lose jobs.

Also, I was 5'6" until I turned 25. Then all my pants suddenly got shorter...
