You need eight strings to catch a bass, you should consider stronger line.

A 5 string bass would be more appropriate as it has a lower string. (Or a 6 string, but as that has a higher string, it would just increase the sonic toe stepping[Sonic Toe Step could be a band{possibly a space swing band}]) With an 8 string bass, you would just have the same notes with a chorus effect. Like a 12 string guitar. A whole 'nother beast entirely.
