In a QC band you must:

Wear ear-protection.
Keep your cock in.
Assume ridiculous rock poses.
Twitch like a Tool video.
Pop the biggest boner.
Have wykkid bitchin' bloodstains on your guitar.
Be a math major to rokk.
Wear sunglasses indoors.
Turn your amps up to eleven.
Something else.

I'll just leave a note here, that "viking" was the Old Norse word for "piracy", and most Norsemen had nothing to do with it, except occasionally as victims.

Tomorrow I plan to lay waste to the weeds and plant a crop of onions.

And then we shall FEAST

We shall FEAST 4x

EDIT: I swear I wrote this before Adjamemnon posted.

You don't even want to know what's getting planted next Tuesday.

Regarding Claire in the last comic, I don't think she consciously meant to ask about his sex life. Unconsciously, however, perhaps it was her feelings for him bubbling up?

When reading MA3, you basically have to throw out your concept of morality out of the window, otherwise you'd get constantly distracted by everyone cheating on everyone, nonconsensual sex acts, etc.

I'd even go as far as argue that breaking up the boy's family was technically one of the less evil acts she did.
Plausibly, but that was the straw that broke my suspension of morality, and from what I've seen of it since then I don't regret the decision to drop it.

To the person who mentioned Time, I would recommend this: http://xkcd.aubronwood.com/

It shows all the frames so far. There are over 1500 and it's been continually updating on the hour for TWO MONTHS.
That one is good and I used it for a while when checking on the progress, but I've since switched to this visualizer: http://geekwagon.net/projects/xkcd1190/ I like the more specific control and information it gives.

A successful entry pimp is well versed in his wares!

The real instance you'd need earplugs during sex would be sex with a japanese girl.  Man.  The screaming can be a real mood killer.  Sounds like she's getting her intestines ripped out.
Are you suggesting that porn sex and real sex sound the same in Japan?
I imagine real japan sex to be quiet and respectful.
Anyway, as a matter of fact, I am suggesting that they sometimes sound the same in Japan; I have never been there, or had sex with a Japanese girl, but I have read blog posts suggesting that the woman is typically the "receiver" and the man is expected to take care of everything and in some cases doesn't even know what to do with a woman who wants to top. The sounds, such is the claim, result from social expectations.

I swear I have tried to find evidence for my claim for at least 45 minutes. This included watching a 13:58 minutes long documentation on Japanese sex culture by the BBC; unfortunately, that was unhelpful.
Clearly, the only way to resolve this is for one or more board members to fly to Japan, seduce one or more Japanese ladies, then report back with the results.

I'll just leave a note here, that "viking" was the Old Norse word for "piracy", and most Norsemen had nothing to do with it, except occasionally as victims.
Next you're gonna tell me they didn't have horned helmets!

To be a nitpicker, "Vikings" were Norsemen who went on raids in other countries, so a Viking planning to settle down on a quiet farm wouldn't be a Viking at all, just a regular Norse farmer. Of which there were many, of course. Most people didn't go on raids, after all, and even those who did had to eat when they were home.

I never thought I would see Turisas mentioned in QC. I'm so fucking happy.

Also, it's kind of ironic, because out of all the 'viking metal' bands, Turisas are one of the least bland and stereotypical. I mean, they have a whole album without the word 'sword' in the lyrics.

Protein isn't evil! Veggies need protein too! Mmm... Tofu... Beans... Lentils... Mushrooms... I've met some very metal vegans; some were quite scary. Vegan vikings would definitely not put horns on their helmets.

Akima, this reminds me of a short (and... interestingly disturbing) short story on Mandrakes (in the Harry Potter universe) being chipped up for potions.

I'm always amused when Americans get blamed for widespread tropes, especially the imistaken ones. We don't create every inaccuracy, you know. 19th century Romantics in Western Europe take the credit for the horny helmets.

Now if only I could get Brooks to edit World War Z so the Chilean diplomat doesn't whine about the 'American' slow clap.

By the way, I wonder if Gary is waiting for Marten at his apartment.

But it's FUN to blame the Americans!  :-D

Seriously, I know the "Vikings with horns" trope isn't really American, but most people nowadays get their Viking images from American sources. Hence the somewhat unfair attack on American movies.

To be honest, I haven't seen the 'vikings wear horns' trope in any serious work recently. The more troubling trope in recent years is 'vikings wear leather and nothing else'. That one bothers me.

What's wrong with songs about Vikings trying to earn an honest living working on a farm?

You'd end up with country music sung in Norweigian, Swedish or Danish.

And that's why we can't have nice things.

You mean like this, (although it's in Finnish)?
(click to show/hide)

I've heard a couple of Swedish country music groups and it sounds like rather generic country pop and they sing in English. Not even close to the standard of Scandinavian metal groups
