Not sure how what Claire said was mean, it's a logical question.

Since when has Faye ever reacted well to any criticism even if it is logical? To me, this way Faye acts would be a dealbreaker for friendship. I find myself constantly getting annoyed by everyone enabling her and being scared of her "threatening severe bodily harm". I think it's supposed to be funny, but it really just makes me dislike Faye.

I really thought we had moved on from the "Faye will assault some-one and will get away with it" stuff.

I don't think she has assaulted anyone in a long time. Threatened? Sure. [Edit: Actually, I found a better example where she was arguably using her powers for good.] But not actually hurt anyone. Not even Pintsize. [Second edit: Okay, there was drunk Marten.]

And hey, she is on her way to clear up problems with Angus. I call that development.

O shit, I just realized it's Friday. No resolution until Monday.

Not sure how what Claire said was mean, it's a logical question.

Calling someone dumb is generally considered mean. She doesn't know Faye that well and Claire was quite condenscending too. Considering Claire had just helped Faye realise something that could have major implications for her relationship, being called dumb for not realising it yourself isn't exactly nice. I don't hate Claire for it, but if I was in Faye's position it wouldn't endear me to her. Claire needs to think before she speaks. I could do without 'classic Faye' Threats O' Violence but Claire was lucky only to get the can.

Looking forward to Faye and Angus next week but I hope this doesn't lead to them going separate ways, I've always liked Angus and he's a perfect foil for Faye, there should be more Faye/Angus strips.

You mean he insulates others from her heat?

Did I spell it wrong? I was rushing a bit.

Anyway, Faye's got plenty of her own insulation *eyebrow waggle*

Not mean, perhaps, but certainly lacking tact.

I feel for Faye and I think it was just a little mean and thoughtless on Claire's part. But somehow there was something just a little satisfying about her saying it.

Not mean, perhaps, but certainly lacking tact.

Which is a pretty good definition of "mean" as it is used in speech today.

IMHO:
mean = malicious intent
lacking tact = lacking the capability to recognize your actions could be hurtful in the first place.

Marten moving in with Claire would make no damn sense. Marten moving in with Marigold would make perfect sense.

How so? Marigold is far more a friend of Hanners than of his.

If anything, Marten and Hanners switch rooms, and Marigold moves into formerly-Marten-now-Hanners-place.

Unless you saw his name spelled with it before hearing his name (or of eszetts), how did that happen?
Exactly that way. I saw his name written before I met him, and had no knowledge of German beyond what they shout in old war-movies on TV. It was embarrassing, but at least I know now.

And yes, it is not normally polite to call someone stupid. Claire deserves the beer-can crown of shame.

How would that make sense? They're identical flats (if you prefer, they're the same flat on different floors - Hannelore's is immediately above Marten's).

All that would do is force a Hanners Cleaning Spree™

It may be a cultural thing - some of my closest friends have called me stupid when I've been equally thick, or rather, oblivious.
OTOH such close friends would take the beer-can crown in good spirit too. Not of shame, but playful affection.

But Faye and Claire haven't had the opportunity to get that close yet.

I have to admit, I really love Claire. She's so vulnerable, but in so many other ways strong. Great character Jeph!.

I ended up making it day early because a moderator was going to ninja me, and I don't want to Liam Neeson a moderator. But seriously, that's the third time I've declared my intentions publicly, in a weekly thread, and had someone cut me off, or say they were planning to. What do I have to do, mass PM the entire forum to prevent that? Make the thread a week early? I mean, I don't care that much about making the thread, but I do like to do it so I do care when I say I will in a logical place and that gets missed.
