I got super awesome new jewelry for my stretched ears!

Also I was considering stretching them again... but I am hoping to get the blowouts removed at some point. And I just got a ton of fancy new jewelry. So I'm going to hold off on that for now. I was playing with some extra jewelry I have and stretched my second earlobe piercings from 8g to 6g without any effort whatsoever. So I think I will focus on them for now. I think I'll go to 4g and stop - going bigger would risk my other ear piercings and I don't want to do that.

A couple years ago I was hanging out with a couple friends in the parking lot of a Wawa* having a midnight snack and someone mentioned a penguin on a hamster wheel. I don't know why. But right away I said "that would be a cool tattoo". I still kind of want it. At the very least, I think sometime this summer I'll go to a tattoo place and hire someone to sketch it up, to see if I can get an idea of it would look like I think it would.

A penguin waddling along on a hamster wheel, or one belly surfing in an infinite loop? :P

Waddling, of course, with his head held high and his wings lifted up in the air. This would be a happy penguin, proud of making the hamster wheel move, even if only a little.

Everybody loves a happy penguin!

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if anyone here will remember the jewelry company Fractal. They made some really high quality and complex pieces of jewellery. They went out of business several years ago and their jewellery is a rare, valuable and highly sought after by collectors, with some pieces going for as much as $1,000. Here's on of their more ridiculous pieces.

One thing to point out about biohacking is that it's not something most people should attempt at a DIY level. It's dangerous, painful, requires other people you trust to at least supervise, some knowledge of how to do it safely (Lepht is one of the better ones, but she does some insanely unsanitary procedures) and has a relatively high potential to end up with a trip to the ER. Not to mention the possibility of mental health concerns that Doctors may have. In the countries with a proper medical system you have a much better options for this, but in the US you've got to be a bit more financially stable with insurance (and a good excuse) and/or be willing to go into medical debt. I've done my own magnet implant before, but that's about the extent that I'd be willing to work on myself in the future without more first hand experience.

And that was with me resisting, because he was uninsured.  We did a lot of planning though.

We worked out what each step would be and what alternate next steps would be if something went wrong (Can't get the incision to stay closed, can't get the magnet in, Steve passes out, I pass out, etc).
We talked through the plan dozens of times, so we both knew what each step was and were confident we were prepared.
We had all the materials we would need for each step laid out in easy reach.
We had an agreement ahead of time about when to seek medical help, both during the procedure, and during the healing.

My heart was still going triple speed, and I don't think I stopped worrying for days.  My biggest fear was infection, since getting him antibiotics would be a pain.

Yeah, I lack the pain tolerance and self confidence to DIY bio hacking. Knock me out,  drug/drunk me up,  or tie me down (any of the three) and I'll be fine, but I have this massive mental block to inflicting physical pain on myself. Just can't do it even when it's for my own good

Yeah that's no good. I worry about taking any non-prescribed medications before any similar procedure, though I will be doing some research before my tongue splitting, concerning medicine.

The problem here is my family on my dad's side has really good immune systems. Bad thing about that is it also comes hand in hand with drug resistance. My dad has (through no fault of his own) built up a mild immunity to many types of prescription painkillers. Which means he basically goes into any medical situation able to feel everything. Ibuprofen does not do very much to me,  at least in "safe" doses.

Hung out with my tattoo artist playing some magic the gathering yesterday. Ended up chatting some about tattoos. Gonna squeeze in some small ones on the sides of my forearms before sept when we do the space one. Also since I'm unlikely to get back to Phoenix, he'll probably color in the snake I have.

Aaaahhhhh yisssssssss. I got some 1 1/16" (27mm) solid plugs in. The first thing I noticed its how incredibly heavy they are compared to eyelets.

Will post pics of it and my 2g septum pincer later.

Yup. I've been using glass eyelets for a while because I had a tear and was stretching back up on the cheap. The weight is a welcome thing, but it was a bit shocking after wearing eyelets for so long.

My new stone plugs managed to piss off my ears so badly that I have to leave my jewelry out for a couple weeks at least, at which point they'll probably be back to 00g. Sadface. Where were you getting your glass eyelets?

Here. Lots of sizes, very light and pretty cheap. Also, you're 1" right? If so, I'm going to guess you would be able to start back up with 1/2". Don't take that for gospel mind you, everyone's different, but it's a pretty likely bet.

Unless it was a iron ore stone or something I doubt it was the stone itself that caused the issue, though it could have been a scratched surface or something. Was it sharp flares, too big a flare or something?

They ended up being pretty low quality, but they seemed fine - cracked and chipped on the surfaces but the wearable felt smooth enough. So I'm honestly not sure what happened.

You are correct, I was at an inch. But the left one is SO pissed off... there was blood. It's already way down. The right one may stop at 1/2", but I'm guessing the left will be much smaller. It sucks, I have fancy new jewelry coming in that I won't be able to wear for a very long time. :(
