« on: 26 Jul 2013, 05:16 »

Finally took the time to register becasue I love this new May bit.. I think she's cute in an... evil... kinda way >.>;

I got linked to this comic from xkcd.. and not sure where I got linked to that one from. I love that this updates everyday now.. it's actually something I look forward to when coming to work ^^;;

Also.. any idea what N.U.R.R means above my name on the left?

Welcome! Read the rules and prepare to enjoy a neat forum with a diverse group of good people. I wondered about NURR too, and somewhere around my 2nd or 3rd post came up with my own words for the acronym. I don't recall them or find them in early posts. This will explain the labels. They're based on your number of posts.

IIRC Jeph is responsible for all or virtually all of them. He's an administrator of the forum but participates rarely.

I hope I didn't need that.. although I'll be honest.. I wouldn't have any idea what it would be for. I'm extremely mechanically disinclined... but extremely technology inclined :)

God.. I just saw your name and now I can't stop thinking of this:

Jesus H. Christ! I hope I can!

I may have said this on the forum before: I spent a year and a half in a Detroit-area prep school in 7-8th grades, then went to a suburban NYC junior high school, about 40% black, where the black kids called me "Balls of Fire!"

AcronymFinder.com didn't have anything for it, so I googled, and one of the earliest hits was QC comic 331: the last panel of the strip, and Jeph's comment below, both use the word "NURR", so perhaps that's relevant. No idea where the periods after the letters came from, though.

Anyway, I see you've been promoted from "Notorious N.U.R.R." to "Plantmonster" now, so conga-rats!  8-)

Here's your answer. It's possible I'm not the only member who's looked at my post count, found, say, "498" and quickly made two frivolous posts to see the label change.
And I also looked for NURR early on, probably in Urban Dictionary, and may have made up a phrase it could have stood for in an early post.
