Where in the blue blazes did May and Momo get their ideas of how to "help" Dale and Marigold? There are romantic comedies with more believable ways to do it.
Considering how stupid the tension between both is, a stupid solution might work. Who knows?

I really don't like Marigold at this point.
I do. I just don't like her attitude.
But then, I don't expect perfection in friends, nor they in me. We try to be good people, but if sometimes we fail, we have friends to pull us up and tell us what assholes we're being. This hurts both the giver of the comment, and the receiver, so we try really, really hard not to deserve it.

Marbear - you're being an asshole, dear. We love you anyway, but please quit it.

She's reacted similarly to outlandish ideas at least once before, when Claire joked that Clinton got masturbation necrosis of the hand, with the same chin stroking. Come to think of it, that's also the closest anyone's come to acknowledging Claire's puns.

Aw poop, now I miss Claire.

His "MAY!" sounded pretty objectin'.

I would point out that Momo doesn't seem to be paying rent on the apartment, so it's not like she's a full tenant there. So Marigold telling Dale to get out isn't out of bounds. Imagine if you had a friend or relative living with you rent free and they invited someone over that they knew you were mad at without even telling you. Deliberately to try to get the two of you to talk. I would likely be upset at that myself.

The rights and responsibilities of AnthroPCs seems quite odd, and way in favor of the AIs at this point. We have a very small sample size though. Momo, Pintsize and Winslow all live rent-free with their companions, who provide for all their upkeep and costs, up until the point where Momo got her new chassis. Then she got the job at the library in promise to pay Marigold back. But that was of her own decision to do so. Marigold and other AnthroPC companions seem to be expected to foot the bills for their friends, yet it's been said that the chassis legally belongs to the AI that's inhabiting it. And that they are not cheap for many models. So essentially an AnthroPC is a friend who you are expected to pay everything for, rent, power (food), repairs and upgrades (medical costs), clothing where appropriate... But they don't seem to have any responsibilities other than to hang around with you. It's really more like having a minor that you are a guardian of, but who can leave at any time they wish.

As far as Dale and Marigold go... They very much are having that social awkward/grade school crush going on where they express their feelings by picking on one another, then misinterpreting the signs. Dale and May just had a talk about that on the way over, but we can see Marigold does it too... Like with the hissing scene. After the diner she's feeling all bad and confused about how she feels, so she's going back to the old standard 'blame Dale and lash out at him'.

  • Farmin' all these goddamn mushrooms.

Maybe Momo has watched too much Magical Love Gentlemen.

Considering how Marigold is acting, I don't know if it's too much so much as not enough. Seriously, an epic over-the-top confession of feelings could hardly do anything to hurt matters at this point. May could even rig up a fan and dump sakura blossoms in front of it before locking them in the room, satisfying both the anime quotient and her desire to troll.

As far as Dale and Marigold go... They very much are having that social awkward/grade school crush going on where they express their feelings by picking on one another, then misinterpreting the signs. Dale and May just had a talk about that on the way over, but we can see Marigold does it too... Like with the hissing scene. Hit the nail squarely on the head, right here.

As for the AnthroPC stuff, you have some very good points--the AIs we've seen do seem to be in a something of a position of privilege, except for May. Originally it was implied that Pintsize to some degree helps Marten with computer stuff/was his computer, which would act as a service they provide...while Marigold definitely uses a separate computer from Momo, maybe Momo does help out with the computing load? Acting as a sort of fully-sentient Siri, along with on-the-fly spellchecking, preventing Marigold from being tempted by gold farmers or the desire to tell off that asshole who stole her rare item, etc.

Just wondering if Friday's strip will end with Momo sitting on a chair, leaning up against a door as Angus and Faye come in>

Ha! I can imagine the look on Angus' face already.

"Momo, why are you sitting in front of the door...? And why is the apartment shaking?"
"I have not been brave enough to check, but I think it will end up being a learning experience for Marigold either way."

Just what I was thinking. In that situation, I would have expected her, with her protocal database, to save the situation by saying  something like: "Ha,ha. No, what really happened?" It seems she gets distracted easily by practical details of outrageous suggestions.

We have zero information either way about whether Momo is contributing to the rent. She has a job and a social protocol database so it's conceivable she feels obligated to do so.

Actually, what I told the guy was that all he needed to do to bring about the apocalypse was get Vladimir Zhirinovsky elected president of Russia. Nuclear holocaust would only be a matter of time after that.

Well well, May does have some decency. Not class, but decency.

I don't see any chance of there being a reasonable number of babies between them, but it would be nice to see them as more friendly rivals.

Either that, or Momo and May wind up in Robot Jail for accessory to murder.

No, there's a sensor in the glasses - unless someone's wearing them, May's confined to the server.
Momo donned the glasses so May would be there, not to see her.
