Let's not get ahead of ourselves, now...

After all, an early half-written poll's barely worth it, now, is it?

Well obviously the other half would've been written before posting.

Polls can be posted on their own without having to be Official Certified Registered WCDT Polls. Go ahead and put it in its own topic, I bet it's interesting.

I wonder if Dale can adopt her when she gets out.

Can AnthroPCs enter into companionship contracts with other AnthroPCs? Could Pintsize pick her up?

Very likely.  8-)

If the Universe Itself does not forbid such a thing from coming to pass, Marten will. This I Believe.

Raising the very interesting question of whether Marten has any legal right to object.

Well the whole point of the Companion program is to foster human/AI friendly relations. Which would make pairing up two AIs kind of pointless. And more importantly... Do you see anyone trusting Pintsize with anyone to take care of?

I thought it was stated somewhere that AIs had a kinda minor-child status. Wouldn't that make Marten the "father?"

AnthroPCs seem to have that status. AIs as a whole ... well, Spaceship and Station seem to run their respective ... bodies ... as they see fit. And I guess Station is considered of legal age to at least simulate drinking.

This is total speculation, but there may have been a compromise in the Robot ERA to allow parental supervision until the AI somehow reaches legal adult status.

It would make total sense if AIs go through a stage where their minds are working but they are exceptionally plastic (no pun intended for once) and have to learn life skills by practice. Some things are easier to learn than to program. In humans we call a state like that "childhood".
