Building an Apple-1 replica
« on: 24 Aug 2013, 14:33 »

Thought this deserved its own thread. It'll get a bit arts and crafty, but it is still computer-related, so I'll post it here.

I'm building Mike Willegal's Mimeo kit, and building it into a case of my own design.

Current status is that the motherboard is completely assembled, as is the cassette interface. Motherboard is now attached to the oak plywood base, that's been stained. Need to mount the power supply transformers and put the finishing touches there. Need to mount the standoffs and get the lid (a piece of plexi). Need to build a box around the transformers, input socket, and power switch. Need to get the keyboard going (got a cable mostly made up, waiting on an encoder board for the Apple II keyboard). Got a bad shift register that's causing video problems, and the replacement has the same problem...

I've been blogging about it here: https://bhtooefr.org/blog/tag/mimeo/
