New links to comic and wiki
« on: 27 Aug 2013, 04:49 »

I've added links to the current comic and to the wiki at the top of the comic forum page (and they appear on the main forum page, too).  Hopefully people will find these useful; perhaps it will also increase awareness of the wiki.

(You can also get to the comic from anywhere by clicking the forum title above, but that's not obvious.)

It's not?  It's the same color as everything else that's a link...

But that's only because it's what the theme colours were matched to!  I'd never thought of it appearing to show that it's a link, I must admit; it's an image, and doesn't change colour...

And it looks like a title. People don't really look at a title if they already know what the page is about.

Hmm... I guess I spend too much time on poorly designed corporate, medical and educational websites.  The title is usually a link to the website's homepage.

Sometimes it's the only one...

Is there any way you can make the swirly arrow images to the left of the links smaller, or maybe non-existent? They are forcing the table rows larger and making them take up far more space than necessary.

Non-trivial, it seems - but I'll look into it this evening.

Later:  It's not the image size, but the padding round it.  I've modified the CSS, but it hasn't gone away :(

It is image size: The entire row shrinks if I shrink the images (clientside).

Though the TD.ICON padding also contributes; turning that off (clientside) shrinks the row by 1.0em ...

Sure; but the image is 32px high, and the row is 48px high; losing the padding should make a big difference (the padding is there to allow for rounded corners which are not in visible use here).  I tried reducing the image size, but I couldn't get the quality I wanted with the tools I have at work.
