He's an oversized iPod, but we've never seen him actually play music.  What's up with that?

He's designed by Apple, but he isn't necessarily an MP3 player with AI.

We talk about Winslow playing music, but we don't actually see it.

I call it the Jason Reitman effect.

Most iPod touches I know aren't used to play music either.

It would be pretty tricky to depict music playing (although I guess Jeph makes slight allowances for reality when he does drunk bubbles, so he could do music notes) and watching someone listen to music wouldn't be a very exciting comic.

I dunno... if that someone is at least dancing to said music (bonus points galore if Winslow is also dancing), it could be quite entertaining. But yes, it'd be pretty boring if they were JUST listening to music, so I suppose it depends on where we draw the line.

Currently I'm trying to imagine how you'd listen to music on an Antho-PC. I mean, plugging it into your stereo doesn't seem really great for the little buddy. And the only speaker that we know of is their mouth. In other words, Anthro-PCs would be singing your music. I don't know if I'd like that.

We've seen Pintsize plugged into things - I think we've seen Winslow plugged in too. Why wouldn't it be great?

For that matter, why does he need to be plugged in to anything? He can send the music to the stereo system wirelessly.

You have a point. Let's hope the post-singularity world of QC has a good way of transmitting music wirelessly. Because A2DP/Bluetooth usually sucks big time. And if you don't have a stereo which supports WAV/FLAC over UPnP there is no really good way of sending music wirelessly in our world.

Well, Deathmøle could use a singer.

Wireless was less ubiquitous when the comic started (also, he's been plugged in for a reset, which would still be normal).  Similarly, no way would he have a hard drive now - solid-state memory all the way!

Winslow also did the music for the beer and bad youtube thing.

... say, does Pintsize's plans sound a little ... alpacalyptic?

That wasn't for music, they wanted to use Winslow for the videos.

Because Pintsize's choices didn't sound appealing.
