Yeah, I'll admit once or twice I've been tempted to learn a germanic language. I have studied French and Spanish, so I can identify romance roots pretty easily. But a decent chunk of english words aren't romance in origin, so I've always been curious about that side.

So are Danish, Swedish and Norwegian germanic? If so, I learned something today.

Yes. Scandinavian languages*, German languages and Dutch languages are all Germanic. Also English, although off all of the languages, it has the most Roman influence. Yiddish is apparently also a Germanic language, I did not know that.

*including Icelandic and Fareo... Faero... whatever they speak on the Faroe Islands.

That's pretty spectacular. Although I'm a bit uncomfortable with the fact it was filmed, considering that Amish people don't want their photos taken. I guess you can't see individual faces well though.

It depends on the Amish Community really. Some or more strict than others and will not allow it. Others are a bit more lax and all those participating may have given consent or were okay with it.
