Reminded me of a story from around the sixties or seventies


Frankfurt Tower Controllers were, back then, not known for their tolerance of Pilots who failed to follow instructions.  One day, during a particularly day of heavy traffic and some bad weather, a British Pilot, making his first trip to Frankfurt got slightly lost in some fog while trying to taxi to the terminal.  Finally, after a few sharp messages from the Tower, the controller snapped at the Pilot.

"Haven't you been to Frankfurt before"  he said in a sharp, condicendingly sneering tone.

There was a seconds silence before the Pilot came back in a calm tone

"Once, but that was in '44, and we didn't land."
