What do you do on Moon Festival? I know that in South Korea, people give each other gifts of Spam.

There's this really handy "other thing" I'm going to write as a footnote to my abstract that I can probably explore these issues in. I think I'll call it my "dissertation."

Fun fact:  I initially read that as "gifts of sperm."

Merry Moon Festival! Only a few days from the Autumnal Equinox, too! :-)

What do you do on Moon Festival?
Give mooncakes to family and friends, eat mooncakes, visit family, display paper lanterns. Spam plays no part...

I see "moon cakes" and I keep thinking, "moon pies".

And dear Lord - 1,000 calories a cake????

A mooncake is not a cake in the Western sense. It is a pastry case filled with a sweet paste, usually made from red beans or lotus seeds. The paste is made with lots of sugar and oil, so it is very calorific.

Valdis, where did the image come from? I love the glow. It makes me glow too.

I think this here is the source.  It's Sköll and Hati chasing the sun and the moon, and they catch them at Ragnarök (more).
