The Super Villain Heist thread
« on: 29 Sep 2013, 15:55 »

So in the grand tradition of super villanry for whatever cause, social justice, personal enrichment, whatever, forumites I say to you...

Shiny, let's be bad guys.

Reveal the secret details of your master plan for world conquest, being able to by an island and yacht, carrying out your own version of Project Mayhem here.

For my own part, phase one would be crashing the global diamond market and destroying the De Beers diamond corporation by raiding their stockpiles and massively distributing the world's most useless hunk of carbon, destroying the artificially inflated price of diamonds, and causing some mild chaos. The theory that it would also provide me massive amounts of diamonds for a super weapon ala Diamonds Are Forever is completely unfounded.

You ruined it because destroying De Beers isn't evil. In fact I can't imagine any story where De Beers isn't the villain. Hell, wasn't it the villain in The Blood Diamond? Damn, that movie was awesome. Anyway, you accidentally described how you'd become a hero. Did...did you fail or did you succeed beyond your wildest dreams?

You're the criminal mastermind, go as big or as small as you want. I'm taking down the De Beers corporation on my road to world conquest, so you tell me.

To get this out of the way: I create a supervirus with a huge incubation time and infect the whole world with it. Then I hold the world ransom for infinite money, promising to deliver the antidote.

I start with Madagascar, because fuck Madagascar.

When the secret agents inevitably turn up to steal the formula, I reveal I don't have an antidote and everyone is going to die.

Then I have the mind-controlled sniper rifle I hid in the wall kill them.
As I stand over their dead bodies, I get sunglasses out of my pocket and say to the world in general:

"Guess they were the only ones

...

to get their shots".

Really not worth the effort.

I hope you don't try to do that using some kind of disease.

I was creating a plan to get rich a few years ago. It involved robbing a money transport from the German federal bank to the local state central bank. I'd need .50 Sniper rifles with depleted Uranium ammo though. I would then use my incredible wealth to crash a few countries for my profit. As in buying a bigass amount of CDS in a very short time through multiple broker all over the world. This would increase the price for CDS incredibly fast, which would make people who hold bonds from that country very nervous. It would most certainly cause the rating agencies to decrease the country's rating, which would start a firesale. The value of the CDS papers I bought would then raise into unbelievable heights. At the same time the country would not be able to get any bonds anymore (nobody trusts them anymore). It would become impossible to finance its debt with new debts, and would go bankrupt.

I don't think reading is a necessary condition for world domination.

(Un)Fortunately, it's not sufficient either.
